Basically a cloud based agent from scum cloud security software company CrowdStrike went awry.
(you might remember them as the Piece of Shit company that lied its ass off and said Hillary's server was hacked by Russia Russia Russia, and then later admitted this was a lie to help Hillary in court)

Seems to primarily affect Windows servers, I suppose anyone running CrowdStrike agents.

All major airlines full ground stop. Many banks having issues

Also affecting a lot of others, my wifes corp computer got the blue screen and she can't boot up. I placed a Home Depot online order and they actually called to tell me it has been picked but because of the outage, I probably won't get any notifications.

P.S
'Cloud computing" has to be the stupidest idea ever. NO I do NOT want all of my data in one place on the "cloud" for hackers to access thank you.
What you don’t value ease of use and simplicity over security and privacy?!? It’s 2024 my man get with the times it’s the greatest thing since sliced bread!

Only a Fucken moron would have their infrastructure tied to the so called Cloud First vs Local First! :smash:

As I said repeatedly I am just waiting for the entire internet to explode and shut down. Can’t wait because it’s going to be epic beyond anyone’s comprehension.

Wife works at small bank. Their systems are fine but many 3rd party systems they use are down effectively putting everything on hold
If that isn’t the perfect example of having all your eggs in one basket! :lmao:

Sometime early this year I believe that Rogers cellar outage had similar impact on millions of customers and services.

Some stupid idiot thought it was a good idea to push an update that shutdown their entire network infrastructure?!?

This company (Rogers) like so many others have and retain some of the dumbest people in IT!

Everyday I walk around looking at the retards that hold position of power over billions of people / companies!

Their decisions literally are the difference between life, death, and society running.

The cloud strategy is not that clear cut. Seen other side where natural disasters wipe out data centres and we were glad to have the cloud.

Like most things in life it's common sense and unfortunately common sense is not that common.

Company's can design strategy based on business needs and leverage cloud computing.

Glad I am a 100% *nix/BSD household.
The culprit was their 'falcon' software, and they make it for the linux platform as well.

This time it was crowdstrike... coulda been sophos, or any of the similar other SAAS equivalents out there.

On a related note, I hear Kaspersky is pulling out of the North America market.
