My current system is a Reolink RLK8-520D4-A with 6 cameras. This system is in the house with 4 cameras on the house and 2 in a detached building. I want to add a couple of cameras to the building for different areas that aren't covered now. I want to be able to view the cameras on the building from inside the building on a TV/monitor. The building has internet via Ethernet cable and is roughly 70 ft from the house. What is the best way to view the cameras from the NVR in the house? Would I be better off adding another NVR and cameras just for the building? The second NVR would be viewable on the app according to Reolink. I did try to use Tinycam Pro but I was only able to get 2 cameras to work not sure what I was doing wrong. Thank you for your help.

First, when you get the 2 additional cameras be sure to stick with Reolink if you intend to use the Reolink NVR.

Question about the 2 existing cameras in the detached building: since that Reolink NVR is a POE NVR, are those 2 cameras connected to a switch which is connected to the NVR's LAN port via a Ethernet cable that runs from the house to the detached building?

P.S. - Welcome to IPCT!

Yes new cameras would be the same. Yes to your question. I have a POE switches inside the house and another in the building.

Then you're not using the POE ports in the NVR. In that case, the 2 new IP cameras would be on the same subnet as the NVR's LAN and the existing cameras.

You should be able to either go into the NVR's menu using the NVR mouse and its attached monitor or use a PC to call up the NVR's embedded webGUI, found at the NVR's LAN IP, and see what the current cameras have assigned for IP's to know what that subnet is. They are private IP's so you can disclose them here. Don't disclose your WAN (public) IP here.

Once that subnet is known you can assign unique, static IP's to the 2 new cameras in that same subnet but OUTSIDE of the router's DHCP pool.

Something like this below.

NVR LAN => POE SWITCH IN HOUSE <=> POE SWITCH IN BUILDING<= IP CAMS
IP CAMS => POE SWITCH IN HOUSE
ROUTER => POE SWITCH IN HOUSE

I'm still figuring this stuff out so bear with me. Adding the camera so far has been pretty straight forward but the viewing them from another area not using the app is the area I'm having trouble with.

Is "another area" the "detached building"?
If so, do you have Wi-Fi there that is on the same LAN as the NVR at the house?

Yes sorry I need to be more specific. Yes 2 cameras and a wireless access point on the LAN from the house. POE switches on both ends.

You could view all the cameras from the detached building in at least 3 ways:
  • Put a PC with attached monitor on your LAN in the building and view the embedded webGUI of the NVR to view the cameras.
  • Put a smart TV in the building and run an app such as Tinycam Pro to stream RTSP either from the NVR (via channels) or from each camera.
  • Place another NVR with attached monitor and connect the cameras to it via LAN (house cams) and via POE switch (building cams); MOF, all cameras are accessible via LAN.

Ok I don't have a PC and that wasn't part of the planning on my end. I did try a couple of laptops but the video cards aren't going to work. I did try Tinycam Pro on my Firestick but I wasn't able to get more than 2 cameras to work. It just kept adding the same 2 cameras when I tried to add more. Solution 3 is the way I've been leaning toward since it seems to be the least complicated for me. Any possibility of conflicts being on the same LAN? What is MOF?

Did you use the NVR's LAN IP then select different channels (1 through 6 or 1 through 8) of the NVR?

Not if you assign unique static IP's to the house NVR's LAN, the new building NVR's LAN and all cams, all in the same subnet. I'd choose IP's that are outside of the router's DHCP pool.
What is MOF?
Matter Of Fact

I did and it just kept adding more of the same cameras. Getting older and definitely not as tech savvy as I used to be. I've been a monkey behind the wheel for to long. I'm going to get another system headed my way. I figured this one out so I bet I can do it again. Thank you for the assistance sir. Might be back if I run into big issues.

Successful install and both sets of cams show up on the app. I had a little trouble moving one camera but after deleting it the NVR picked it back up. Thank you for the help and suggestions TonyR much appreciated.
