I had to change my email password and this forced me to change the password on my NVR 5216 for email alerts. I entered the new email and did a test email FAILED to send. entered the correct email again FAILED to send. logged into my email account with new password and it works on several devices. Tried the NVR again with correct password FAILED TO SEND. system version v4.002.0000000.3.R wed version v3.2.7.147361. HEEEEELLLPPPP. do I need to update the firmware. I can see the cameras on my home net work everything looks normal on the settings. thanks for any help

Keep in mind if your email fails and you are able to access it, as stated above might want to try and make a new password for your account. One thing I have found is that in some systems even if you put in the special like !@#$&*()_+ and there are a few that Dahua don't like. Sometimes they are printed not to use them. One thing that I found for me anyway using an OEM Dahua product with this issue, My App has the ability to setup email and or make changes. Finding that even though I entered the right password in the WebUi setup the special was omitted and I was able to enter that special in the app to make the password work..

One of my old UNV cameras is like that.
It won't accept one of the special characters in my camera passwords, so i had to make another password just for that camera.

were you just using your regular gmail password on the nvr or did you create an app password for the nvr?

Do you have 2FA enabled on the gmail account?

I originally created an app password for the old email access but when trying to create another it would not give me the correct procedures. I followed several online tutorials and still no luck. I think I will try to create an entirely new email account for the NVR. it does not giver me the "app passwords" option
