Has anyone noticed an issue with sub streams dropping out on their T54IR-ZE-S3's?

I am running V3.100.0000000.6.R, Build Date: 2023-08-02

I have the main stream set to full res, 15FPS, works without issue, ever.

SS1 Disabled

SS2 Set to 720P and 5FPS for Frigate

SS4 set to 720p and 15FPS for Deepstack

The camera will be fine all day long, and then randomly SS2 will just drop out and take hours to come back on its own. I have this exact same configuration on my other T5442T-ZE's without issue, only an issue on my single T54IR-ZE-S3

Whats interesting is that its not just over the network, it won't even load on the camera UI

  • Power cycled a few days ago as a test, made no change
  • Overheating doesn't seem to be an issue, its in the same conditions as all the other cameras with no problems, and the issues didn't present themselves in the very hot afternoon sun yesterday, but rather at 6am when its coolest
  • No problem with bad ethernet cable, luckily its like 10ft of cable to the switch in my garage, so I replaced that just in case, no problems. The main stream with the most bandwidth has zero problems, only the sub stream. Also, the fact it can't even load via the camera itself tells me its something else
  • All H264, not 265 or Smart 264, or whatever

Where would I get the latest firmware for this cam? Its from Andy

Wow! I had no idea he had an awesome site like that. I'll update

I just had a similar problem with this same cam on same firmware. Only it would drop off line completely for a couple of hours, then come back for a while.
You couldn't ping it during that time.

Resetting via the button 3 times in a row has solved it for 4 days now.

No issues with pinging here, camera and main stream stays up no problem, just the sub stream that Frigate is connecting to having the issue

I disabled that sub stream and connected Frigate to the 15FPS, and sure enough that stream started dropping too. Unsure if it always did, because its much harder to tell in BI compared to Frigate when watching the logs

Since I can see the issue on the camera itself, if its Frigate, its actually causing the problem on the camera

Either way, I don't understand how its only this one camera

I'll get around to updating the firmware soon, hopefully it helps someone as I can't be the only one with the issue

Just getting around to doing this today

Does anyone know if updating the firmware will reset my config?

Just did the update, it did not

It is best to factory reset 3 times, flash firmware, and then 3 more factory resets. Doing so you would have to set the camera up from scratch.

So if this update didn't fix it, then try that.

Yep, didn't fix! Gah!

I'll probably do the factory reset later today, it will be a lot of work noting down all the settings

Okay so its not just the Substream that Frigate is connecting to, its the sub stream that Blue Iris connects to also

Weirdly, the main stream is 100% solid, not a single dropped frame. What the heck!

This is so weird, I can see the steam just going in and out constantly, but the main stream is just chugging along no problem

Took some more time to work on this issue, still no idea what the issue is. Completely factory reset, moved inside to a new switchport, different switch, 3ft brand new patch cable no fix

The main stream works 100% fine, which is using by far the most amount of bandwidth and resources, so at a loss

I may just guy a different model camera and replace it, and put this somewhere else that is not doing Deepstack or Frigate

Well, I figured it out, kind of

I lowered the bitrate of the main stream, and all good. It seems the T54IR-ZE-S3 cannot handle the level of bandwidth the T5442T-ZE's can

Pretty disappointing. Storage is not a concern for me so I crank up the bitrate

I'm running 10240 bitrate on main and 1024 on substream 1. I dont run the other substreams 0

Definitely not seeing that as I leave substreams up on SmartPSS practically all day
