I just got smart and shifted my ethernet wiree Dahua cam outside and moved the lower res Dahua wifi cam inside.
Which meant disconnecting.
The ethernet wired cam is working fine.
The wifi cam I cannot access. The nvr will not communicate with it without the username password.
I've no idea and no record. It is years old.
I've tried admin/admin
and 88888/888888
to no avail.
I've got the config tool.. it doesn't seem to help.
To be clear: I find it alright. the router finds it, the config tool finds it, advanced IP scanner finds it. We just can't use it for need of logging in it seems.
Saw a depressing thread here where they take the front off and short some wires or something.
I don't have to do that do I?

yep. that's the one. pull the thing apart and short 1 and 2.
sounds a bit hard and problematic to me.
I can see the camera, get its feed, with smart pss lite.
it does that somehow. I don't know how. got the details from the nvr I suppose. for years it was connected to the nvr.
but i can't get to it any other way.
and the nvr and smart pss don't tell me the pswd and don't offer me a way to change it either.

You may have to do it any way.

Set your PC to a static IP of 192.168.1.20, subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, no gateway IP or preferred DNS IP's needed.
Power up the camera with a 12VDC wall wart.
Connect your PC's Ethernet port directly to the camera's pigtail.
Perform hard reset of camera.
Wait a full minute.
Camera should come up with default IP of 192.168.1.108.
It should then require a new username and password to be set up and saved.

BTW, what is the make/model of NVR? Is it a POE NVR?

Most I've ever been able to find I think is that which I just got now from it's 'web service':

Device Type: NVR
Record Channel: 4
SN: 3JPAZ9EF505A730
Web Version: 3.2.3.84176
Onvif Client Version: 2.4.1
System Version: 3.215.0000000.0, Build Date: 2017-08-07
Pretty ancient there, eh? 2017. Type 'generic' my router says and guess that'd be right. I've always thought of it as very dahua oriented. to me its my 'dahua nvr' but it doesn't have any such label on it.
Yep. Has ports marked PoE I think I remember seeing when I moved it today.

Probably time for me to buy some all new gear. Things have moved on. Probably get much better resolution/better software etc. for the same dollars I spent back then now.
