I've been using Dahua cameras for a while and am considering switching to Hikvision due to quality issues with the images with the Dahua cameras I use. They seem to rush out new products without thoroughly checking them for issues.

Anyhow, I'm used to overlaying a 128x128 image on the dahua camera and I'm wondering if Hikvision also offers this feature on their high end 4K PTZ cameras? When I go through the manual online I only notice the ability to overlay text and no option for images, but would like confirmation from this community.

Thanks!

Bump. Can anyone advise on this? The manuals don't seem to show an option for an image overlay

What issues with image on Dahua cams?
In Your posts history I see only one post where You ask about pink dot at maximum zoom on SD8..
Which is not a big problem in normal use of that PTZ camera..

I don't think that switching from Dahua to HIK will solve Your problems...
If we talk about rushing with a new products and forgetting about previous ones - HIK is even worse in this field.

Dahua have stable product cycle (like PRO cameras are replaced by a new versions every 3-4 years, some Ultra lines have even slower pace) in which Dahua releases fixes and a new features. If there are serious bugs in security, Dahua releases firmware updates even for products from 2018..

HIK don't have that policy - they can very fast forgot about firmware updates for any product..

ps. if you really wanted to switch to something better / more stable and supported - then Axis cams are only the way..

Hi Steve,

The other issue I have is with another model I use. DT8C842-8P-FA-APV-0280

I have a few of these cameras and everyone of them shows a red tint on the left side of the image when I have a low shutter speed on at night.

I have a few axis cameras too, and I agree that they are good, but for a few projects I need a camera with a large image sense 1/1.2". Dahua stopped producing the one they have that I have been using and I'm now looking at Hikvision's 1/1.2" 4K PTZs. But that is why I'm wondering about image overlay because I use that feature for the Dahua cameras.

I also use the RTMP feature for the Dahua cameras and notice that it is not a listed streaming protocol on the Hikvision cameras.

So do you know whether:

1. There's no image/logo overlay option
2. RTMP streaming is possible with Dahua's higher end cameras (example: DS-2DF8C842IXG-ELW)

Thanks
