Hopefully I am posting this in the right section. Has anyone "hid"a camera somewhere on a mailbox to capture plates as they drive by? I want it hidden because you know how people are if they see a camera they will destroy it or deface it especially if its by the road. I know theirs no perfect way to hide it but looking for ideas on how to do it and what looks the best thanks.

Many here have cameras on their mailbox.

People are oblivious and if you paint it to match, most probably wouldn't see it.

Here are a few threads I could find, but I know there are more LOL

I thought about doing it, then this happened to my mailbox. It would have destroyed my cameras.

The mailbox somewhat ruined that Suburu as well! :headbang:

Someone in the Blue Iris group on FB made inserts to go inside of his PVC mailbox post that would allow him to place cameras inside. He was limited to fixed focal lengths, and couldn't really adjust them, but it's something.

He made one for the end of the post, as well, to point back towards the house.

Just how do you hit a mailbox like that? Especially one surrounded by brick! I can't be on purpose, as any right-minded person would know it will cause major damage to the vehicle and more than likely disable it. That had to hurt!

I don't understand what could be so important that the attention is on the phone instead of driving. The consequences of that are obviously apparent
In my recent daily 30 mile trips for 6 weeks to the clinic for radiation, I would see no less than 6 but usually at least 10 people with a damn phone on their ear or on the steering wheel as they looked at it.

The cops don't enforce the law against it because, you guessed it....they do it too.

What gets me is that probably 90% of the cars are late model and I know they can likely bluetooth them...I use my Android with my 2018 F-150 often that way, works great. Of course, with most people the issue isn't having both hands free to drive, it's the extreme focus on the conversation which keeps them from paying adequate attention to the most important task at hand....piloting a 4,000 vehicle at 55MPH through traffic safely.
