Question about "Alert Folder"

Today I noticed that in my "Alert" folder I had some 13,000 jpg's in there! After some research I found that ever since updating to 5.9.9.26 that AI or BI is saving a alert image for every cam I run AI on. Note, I do not have save high-res option selected, just save to database. Something has changed somewhere?? I will be asking Ken what is going on this one. I have proved that it is only the cams I am using AI that will put a picture in the folder. Any others seeing this? I am running 5.9.9.28 but this started back on 2/17/2025 when I updated to 5.9.9.26.

I also tried the latest 5.9.9.29 but BI is still filling up my alert folder with pics. Ken has been notified.

Have you checked the camera setting for "Alerts", "AI configuration", "Burn mark-up onto alert images". I have three systems running 5.9.9.29 and two of them have no JPG's in the alert folder, the third system did have some JPG's and when I checked the cameras that were generating the JPG's it looked like they were only from cameras with the "Burn mark-up onto alert images" setting enabled!

Thanks Bruce, but no I do not use that option on any of my cams. These pics are definitely the ones used for AI, but not sure why they just started showing up there. Again, if I revert back to 5.9.9.25 then everything is ok. I have now confirmed this is happening on 3 of my friend's BI installs as well. Ken is looking at it as well. This affects only camera's that are using AI.337.jpg338.jpg340.jpg

Here's another weird tidbit, I simply just cut my alert folder and put it on the desktop for a while. BI just kept running as normal, no errors.... nothing. Put the folder back and then they start populating again??

Tinman, hey it was worth a look!, not sure why two of my installs do not generate JPG's but one of them was. I have cleared the "Burn mark-up onto alert images" on all of the cameras for that system and will see if it makes any difference. Here is something that you might want to try, goto the "Burn mark-up onto alert images" and toggle it on, save the setting and then go back and toggle it off and save the setting, it might be a case where the setting is stuck on in the settings but is not being reflected in the GUI.

worth a try :)

341.jpg ok that works as it should as you can see.343.jpg but when I turn it off, still get image. Again, this is running 5.9.9.29

Here is another possible wild stab in the dark, have you tried toggling the save JPG setting, perhaps it is stuck!

Well, now I found that that feature is NOT working. I changed the setting, yet the file size did not change, and it is not a HI-RES picture. Will update Ken on this as they seem to be tied together.

Update: In order to have a camera save a hi-res jpeg to your alert folder you MUST have "use main stream if available" checked as well IF you use CPAI on that camera. So, this issue has all been fixed with 5.9.9.30.

Rolled back to 5.9.9.25 and it works just like it should. I'm done testing for now, obviously a bug that needs fixed from 5.9.9.26 and on.

Another installation (my daughter's) showing the issue. She wanted the weather overlay feature, and I told her there is a bug, but not to worry too much about it as it will be fixed. But as soon as she went to 5.9.9.29 her alert folder started filling up with pics. In her case she is just running CPAI in CPU mode. I have hers and mine set for a 1GB cap anyway.

Ver 5.9.9.30 broke All my notifications on Android phone, BI and Pushover. Had to roll back to .29 and delete and regenerate data base. I sent Ken a message about this.

I updated to 5.9.9.30 without any issues.

I now always execute a database compact/reindex action right before updating... Since doing this I've managed to avoid a forced database regenerate recurrence. This may be a coincidence, but it seems prudent regarless.
