4K-X 6mm uneven focus

Every situation is different, so using one camera will always be a compromise. I like to mix and match because each camera is unique and adds something that another might miss. As an example, I use four cameras for my driveway: Color 4K-T180, PTZ 5A4M-25x, Color 4K-X (6mm), and B54IR-Z4E S3. Here is a snippet from last night that shows how useful the added color information from the 4K-X 6mm is.

It's coincidental, other that the 4K-180, I have all the same cameras. What are you using for an NVR?

Rope lighting in the form of more cameras :lmao:
No, seriously, would adding some low voltage lighting help with light in this instance? It's common to see the permanent low voltage on lighting homes here and on fences. Would it be worth it to add decorative lighting to the fence? I ask because it has a good WAF factor

Probably not. It's not like those lights are very bright to begin with. I would think one would struggle to read a book under those lights alone so the camera would also struggle to get any useable light out of them.

But it's probably worth a try since they are cheap and easy to setup and test with. You can always take them back if it doesn't work out.

If rope lighting would help any camera, it would be the 4X/X and 4K/T camera, but I wouldn't expect dramatic results unless the lights are bright and directional.

We currently have 4 of these on the top of the fence on the side where the 4K-X is:
They do a pretty good job of lighting up this side when motion is detected, but they are solar and don't last all night and the motion detection can be iffy at times. I'd like to find low voltage versions of them because they are 1000 lumens each

Ok, with the camera turned more to the right and using the night settings bigredfish recommended, I see a drastic improvement. There is still some noise in the image, but I think that may be due to the lower than recommended bitrate of 6144, which is all the Lorex will support. Hopefully that will improve when I replace it with the NVR5216-16P-4KS2E

Shutter speed is manual - customized range 1 - 7.5

Yep, that extra bitrate will help

Then its am matter a playing with small increments on DNR, Gain, and Exposure. (and to a degree Gamma)

Something will end up getting sacrificed.
For me I sacrifice a little blur on vehicles for better walking human quality.
So maybe that means going up to 8 or 8.5 on Exp, maybe that means 5 more in Gain, or maybe cutting back DNR a smidge.
Try each one at a time

*Caution. You can't do this without a volunteer helper walking back and forth. It will take at least 20-30 minutes to try them and review video and compare. It will likely take multiple evenings unless you can con, er I mean sweet talk the spousal unit into walking for an hour or two.
Is she allowed to drink?

Now I need to swap the 4K-X location with the LPR EAST camera. The 2 are mounted on the same post and are pointed in a way that their paths slightly cross each other now that I changed the FOV of the 4K-X. The light from the 4K-X is causing a glare in the image of the LPR EAST camera on the right side. Never ending

Until I get the new NVR setup, I lowered the gain to 45 to help reduce the noise from the low bit rate. It should be better with the higher bit rate and gain, I hope.

Yep, this turns into a hobby for many of us LOL.

Wait till a neighbor gets a camera or plants a tree or removes a tree or adds a fence LOL. I always seem to be making little adjustments LOL.

Nah, I'm not going to wait for a neighbor to give me a challenge, I'm a pro at doing that all by myself in spectacular style
