Looking for advice on starlight camera for live stream

Keep in mind that while no as sophisticated as changing the day/night profile based on sunrise/sunset, the camera does have a basic schedule that you can put it to tell it when to switch between night and day.
Technically possible, yes. Recommended, not really. It introduces a bit of a security concern and uses your CPU and internet upload bandwidth unpredictably. It would be better to live-stream to youtube and embed the youtube video on the website. Or use Blue Iris's periodic snapshot FTP capability to upload a still image on a predefined interval.
Thanks. I'm not keen on youtube tbh, I'd like the live stream to appear on the webpage, clean, without youtube logos or anything like that and without the need to click on a link to open/activate it. Are there any other ways you can think of to achieve this ? I currently FTP a still image to it every 60 seconds but I am looking to live stream as an upgrade to that.
Well Blue Iris does provide an HLS stream which is compatible with most javascript-based video players (see the Help file for the URL format), or you could embed livestream.htm or ui3.htm in an iframe on your website. But you will need to disable the authentication requirement in Blue Iris's advanced web server settings to use any of this.
To embed the video on a website, I'd actually recommend not using Blue Iris for that purpose. If you want to serve the video directly with your own internet connection, then use MediaMTX instead. It is free, open-source, and can provide an HLS stream more efficiently than Blue Iris can, without exposing all the rest of Blue Iris's web server to your website visitors. Hi everyone, new member here from Denmark.
Rather than making a new thread I decided to ask here first.
I have been looking around to find a Weather cam for night sky timelapse, and I found a few threads in here ranging from 2021-2023. So is the camera I have seen mentioned still the go to, or are there any newer models ?
The mention ones are
As I have trees blocking some of the sky I am considering using a 20 meter cable if I cant cope with the tree height.
I am a newbie, so you would have to explain this to a beginner. Like what other than the camera do I need to run night recordings and timelapses ?
Also I would say that 4K is a must atleast for me.

Not many Reolink fans here. Especially 16MP on a sensor designed for 2MP.
If you only want overview, maybe ok, but any IDENTIFY and forget it.

Reolink cams, except for their doorbell cam, suck and should be avoided.

I have 2 reolink Duo 3 (1 POE, 1 WiFi) and the image quality, including at night, is way better than my old hikvision DS-2CD2332-I. I like the 180° vision. I can't compare with modern hikvisions as I don't have any yet.
Take into account that the middle of the image can be a little bit distorted at some (configurable) distance as they are using 2 sensors.
If you really need 180° view, that's for me a good choice. If you don't need 180°, maybe check elsewhere.
They do work correctly with ONVIF with synology surveillance, but not with the reolink driver.
The wifi one has a way better wifi connection than my older hikvisions.
Thanks for sharing your experiences. I am looking for a 180degrees cam to capture starlight so a wide FoV and the ability to work in very low light are essential. I need to be able to turn off spotlights and IR + a 4K+ sensor is a minimum. The Dahua PDW5849 & PDW3849 get a good wrap but are more expensive here in Oz so I am looking for experiences with alternatives. Synology's latest firmware supports all these cam to some extent however I may display them via a web server as an alternative.

So to clarify, are you looking to use this camera to look at the sky/stars? or are you using the marketing term "Starlight" to describe a camera you think will see in complete darkness without any light other than FROM the stars?
Yes looking to capture night sky ie starlight over 7-8hrs it is dark here. Thus the idea of linking to a NVR to record the cam stream or to capture the stream in as hi-res as the cam/server can manage.
