Forgot to share this. Our Ivermectin is out of date, by a couple of years now. I used some when the wife and I had Covid end of 2021.
Well a few months ago our young female Boxer got the Red Mange. Never heard of it. She first had bumps on her stomach and chest, looked like ant bites. We did not think much of it, had other dogs lay in ant beds, guess they liked the feeling of the bites

, no joke. Then came the hair loss, this had us take her to the Vet.
Red Mange is where mites (which all dogs have mites) overwhelm an immune system, rare, but normally it is hereditary, passed down from one of the parents. Good thing, it is not like the regular mange where it is contagious.
So the Vet gave her antibiotics and we gave her supplements to help strengthen her immune system. The Antibiotics helped with the bumps but not the hair loss. Poor thing, she is only a year old and looked terrible...
Well after a month, no improvement, so here is where the Ivermectin comes in. We took it on ourselves to give her one 6mg pill a day from our out of date supply. One month later, all her hair has grown back, she looks perfectly normal. Go figure.
Both our dogs are on Heart and Flea preventive, we use a topical for ticks. Now we did started her on Bravecto, which does all three and was told by the Vet that it should help with the Red Mange.
So did Ivermectin work/help? Out here in the country, paste form is used alot with livestock. Her first month, only Antibiotics helped the bumps, not hair loss, the second month Bravecto and Ivermectin was given which fixed her Red Mange.
Vet said if not better in 3 months come back and they have a shot to try next. When we told him that she was back to normal in a month, he was a bit perplexed, we did not tell him we gave her Ivermectin.
INVERMECTIN ROCKS!!!
