I have had this happen a few times lately that my cam detects and auto tracks an animal. In this case it is a cat. But a while back it was a possum.

Your SD5A425GA-HNR :thumb: video makes my SD4A425DB-HNY :banghead: look like something that came out of a Cracker Jack box.

My HDW5231R-Z 2mp camera puts a green box around our dogs whenever they are in view of the camera in the backyard. The green box goes wherever they do

Yes, we also make a special animal tracking fw for the PTZ5A4M-25X (SD5A425GA-HNR), this camera is very sharp, but bit expensive.
@guykuo have a good video capture the bear :winktongue: audio i think he installs an external voice pickup.

Animal tracking firmware? I would love to have that on my PTZ5A4M-25X cameras. I only have the General_SD-Taurus_MultiLang_PN_Stream3-Normal_V3.200.0000018.2.R.240617 which does not track animals.
The bear video was manually aimed, but getting firmware that also does animals would be wonderful.

BTW, the audio in that Bear video was created using sound effects in Final Cut Pro. It is not actual recorded audio from the event.

Actually when you use with smart AI NVR, just turn off the target filter will make the animal tracking working, i just send you the DM for the autotracking fw

Nice clips. I would like to make my tracking continue longer once the subject quits moving. As in the cat capture, my tracking duration was set to 60 seconds, yet this did not work, and it returned to home. So far, I think this is a setting we cannot adjust, once the subject stops, it would be nice for a delay setting.

Andy's special animal tracking firmware is letting my system catch detailed shots that would normally just be a distant blob. However, it has a tendency to excessively hunt back and forth during tracking. That creates what would be a non-presentable video, but thankfully Final Cut Pro does a decent job removing the excess camera motion. Ideally, the tracking algorithm gets tweaked to calm down hunting back and forth once an object is being tracked.

Here is a video showing an autotracked bear cub at 100 yards out from camera.
The first half is the raw footage. The second half is post processing in Final Cut Pro.

aha, the bear walking way is different than normal animals, keep left and right when its walking, other animals will be a straight line.So camera tracking a little hard, Like shaking. :)

Thought so.
I recently installed one to replace an older 6 series due to the 1/1.8 vs 1/2.8 sensor.
Picture is as expected much better, but tracking sucks

I thought I noticed that on some of your first clips. Why I'm hesitant to try the animal firmware. I do not see that type of movement on mine. Maybe go through the global config once....just guessing what might cause that, like its too sensitive.

There is a low/medium/high setting

But mine just doesn’t track well and hunts a lot beyond say 50-60 ft

Where is that setting? I didn't run into that yet.

It sure looks like they need more hysteresis in the tracking software. That would damp down the excess hunting. Like you, I'm tracking at increased distance - usually 50 to 100 yards for the animals here.
