NVR freezing (sometimes) Question?
I now have all cameras recording 24/7
If I set a few, not to record (like) in my chicken coop)
Will that help with the NVR freezing?
Thanks
Sam

What exactly is freezing?
  • Live view display while recording?
  • Recorded videos when playing back?
  • Or other?

Model # of NVR?
How many cameras total?
Camera models?

Show a picture of your camera registration page on the NVR

I just think the NVR does not handle them all, so wanting to know if not recording 24/7 would help?

1) NVR5216-4KS2
1) IPC-HDW5231R-Z
1) IPC-HDW5231R-ZE
3) IPC-HDW5631R-ZE
1) IPC-HDW5231R-Z12
1) SUNBA PoE+ PTZ Camera Outdoor, 36X Optical Zoom 5MP

I record 12 right now, almost all 4MP and 8MP with the same NVR and no trouble. It handles them fine. So triple the load you have. I still have plenty of HP for 2-3 more

It’s not that

Do you mean “handles” as in viewing all live at full main stream at the NVR with a monitor connected? Over your network with SmartPSS?, Or remotely using the DMSS app? ?

Yes, I see live and can play back the recordings.

I have the

ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AX11000 Pro Tri-Band WiFi 6

and two

D-Link 10-Port Gigabit Smart Managed PoE+ Switch | 8 PoE+ Ports

Everything works fine.
It occasionally freezes. and I do not know why?

Thanks
Sam

You didnt answer this: It matters
It "freezes" when?
  • While Viewing all live at full main stream at the NVR with a monitor connected?
  • Over your network with SmartPSS?,
  • Or remotely using the DMSS app?

Anyway, It could be lots of things.
99% chance its NOT the NVR and more likely some issue with your network.
You'll need to start eliminating things to narrow down the problem.

Disconnect the NVR from the Internet, does it still "freeze?
Are you port forwarding from your router to view cameras when away from home?
Disconnect the SUNBA from the NVR. Does it still freeze?
What is your NVR connected to?

Is the NVR connected to a port on the POE switch or is it connected to the router?

Can you record using mobile camera and post here video showing those freezes?

without that we can't help you.. you problem is too generic and there is no proper details...
my NVR does all the recording 24/7. all feeds only freeze every now and then.

Saltser.
Your previous posts are mostly requesting assistance with multiple problems, with cameras & NVR's.
Think you must be very unlucky, to have so many problems with your CCTV system. Hopefully others that have already provided some advice will assist you further.

if this is in live view over monitor connected to HDMI (that information should be in first post) and live view (not playback of old recordings!) freeze every now and then, then most probably cause of the problem is not NVR but bad network cables to cameras (especially badly made CAT5 plugs, probably rusty after years).

when there are some (not big) network errors over cable, cameras retransmits data many times - this creates many seconds delays from time to time..

Redoing ALL CAT5 plugs on ALL cables, both on camera and NVR sides using new ones using good ethernet cable crimper by someone who know how to do it is first thing to do... plus new full water isolation of plugs on camera sides...

On the NVR monitor, all live feeds freeze at the same time, not just one camera?

I have not had problems with any of my equipment other than moisture in Dahua cameras (which I replaced) and the videos freezing. not sure what you are referring to?

little strange..
you have external POE switch, so it can be also NVR<>switch cable problem...

it's old NVR model - how many years it's used? you can try to replace with something new..

third possibility - HDD's are dying. And somehow blocks NVR..

you can try to check S.M.A.R.T. status od all disks..
