I was hoping to get some assistance/guidance on the best way to get motion alerts for vehicles/humans going up and down the driveway/steps to the house. I initially had only SMD activated but was getting a lot of notifications from people just walking on the footpath and the nature strip tree moving when windy outside false triggering.

If I were to go with a tripwire, how would you best draw it? Or would you suggest an intrusion would be best for my case? I understand everyone’s case and view is always different. I was thinking a single line for tripwire along middle of driveway?

Not sure if my cameras support global setup, as that’s something I’ve been reading about on the forum and if my cameras support global setup I haven’t tried calibrating that.

MD/SMD is old tech and as you are finding out, not very accurate and will trigger for many things.

IVS is the way to go. It is best to try tripwire and intrusion and see which works best for your field of view. Some of my cameras are tripwire, while others respond better to intrusion. For the tripwire, a zigzag approach up your driveway would be best.

Okay great, I will give the zig zag a try and let you know how it goes. Regarding my other front camera, would you say an intrusion would be more ideal for anyone crossing the footpath into the front yard? Or could I go with a tripwire along the front of the property/steps?IMG_0356.png

Disable MD and SMD

I always like to use both an Intrusion box and tripwire

Make Tripwire (green) directional to limit alerts, Intrusion zone (blue) is a backup and set for all parameters

I think my question relates to this but I use intrusion on my cameras and I get a lot of false triggers. Any way to stop shadows from trees moving trigger them?

You should not be getting false triggers from AI Intrusion zones. Tree shadows do not set off IVS zones

Check and make sure you dont have MD or SMD running

I get maybe a 1-2 "false" alerts in this scene every couple of months and I run max sensitivity.
The only "false" trigger I recall in the past few months was from a plant on the deck I moved and IVS thought it to be human,

Well I can’t explain it then because I keep getting alerts for CrossRegionDetection with shadows moving on the drive.

I do get alerts from bugs but I don’t see bugs in this instance.

SMD is disabled, at least from the DMSS app

You need to make the changes in the camera GUI - more than likely MD or SMD is enabled.

Is there an SD card in the camera that you can playback with IVS rules on to confirm it isn't IVS rules triggering the camera?

My gosh I’ve looked and I always feel like I don’t know anything. Where in the camera gui is MD or SMD because I cannot find that. Sorry for being dumb.

Ok 8 year old FW, no telling what you’ll get. IVS was in its infancy and not near as reliable as today. So possible

Check the NVR make sure it’s not got MD enabled
