Connecting NVR and two POE Switches to Main Switch

I got a few weeks ago a16 camera NVR with only one RJ45 connection which is connected to my Main Switch and is working good. I also have two POE Switches connected directly to my Main Switch seperately.

From checking around it appears I have them connected incorrectly and the Poe Switches should be connected to the NVR.

Do I need to change my CAT 5 wiring or just leave them that way as the system is working?

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.....really!
Not sure why you say ".. it appears I have them connected incorrectly."

Thanks for the quick reply.

Yesterday I checked and a couple of youtube videos and other text said to connect the two POE Switches and NVR together then one wire to the Main Switch/router.

I just checked again and others are saying separate cables is the way to go.

So like you say if it ain't broken do no fix it,

Now to move on to my next problem with the system. I have about 50 items bound statically in a Mikrotik Hex Lite Router Board but for some reason the POE cameras will not bind. Earlier this week my whole system went down (not caused by the camera system) and my camera IPs changed but nothing else. I have had a lot of problems with this. I'll check my cameras to ensure they are on static which I have done before. At the moment I have DHCP ticked on the NVR but that does not seem to help with the power goes off. Anyway that is probable a question for the Mikrotik forum,

Thanks again.

Yes, it's proper and recommended to NOT have camera video pass through router to get to NVR LAN, so as you said: cameras to POE switch, POE switch to NVR LAN, POE switch/non-POE switch to router.

I did what you said and connected the second POE switch to the first POE switch then connected the First POE switch to the NVR and connected the First POE switch to Main Switch. It all still works.

It takes up a lot of ports on the POE switches. It would be good to use a Uplink 2 SFP Port but that looks expensive and might as well get a larger POE switch if I need it later.

Thanks

I think the way you did it originally is the best. What you have in the previous post is OK too. I use a "monster" POE switch, 28 ports, connected to the NVR. Then I ran out of ports (not all used for cameras) and chained an 8-port switch off of the POE switch for things around the house.
