Providence's planned "noise cameras" could arrive by end of this year

Excerpts:

"Much like already existing red-light cameras- and school zone speed cameras-- Proposed noise cameras, would detect unlawful amounts of sound, whether it be from modified vehicles or a car speaker, and snap a picture of the violating vehicle's license plate, sending the driver a ticket in the mail."

"If Providence installs them as planned, it will join several other major cities, including Washington DC, New York City, and Sacramento, in employing noise camera technology."

I wonder how competently that is implemented. There will be false positives. How is one supposed to contest the issue? Do all the garbage trucks get dozens of tickets every day? What about thunderstorms, strong wind, an air conditioner falling out of a third-story window nearby?
