Good point!

If i change platform then I can always use the same stick. Ordering it then

Nary, I remember in one of your post, you purchased a led light bulb that changes color. It is z-wave buib? I look for one and all I found was soft white only. I am hoping to find one that have different color so I can have one color for doorbell, other for alarm, and hopefully find a way to plug z-wave device into my telephone jack so it can detect when it ringing and flash another color for phone ringing etc.

Thank for your advices!

Bill

the only multi-color led i have is my fish tank, and thats not z-wave.. they have RGB LED Z-Wave devices tho, tho I think they are for led strips.. might find a bulb format.

Found one ... by the same manufacture that sell the Gen 5 Z wave stick, trying to find a store with reviews for this bulb

I have one those. It works very well with the PI/Domoticz/Z-Stick combo. The only issue I've found is that the 30 gazillion colors aren't available, but the basic white, red, green, blue, purple, yellow... + dimming is all good.

BTW; thanks to @nayr for the intro on these forums to all things Domoticz!

Million thanks for the feedback on this bulb, All I care is the basic colors for each alert. We are a Deaf family so we want to set up lights in room with color telling us what up, like Green for doorbell or Red for alarm etc.

But does the normal white have pretty good lumen and light up the room good?

Thank again!

It's a good amount of light for a smallish room Bill, but I wouldn't say it's bright enough for a large room on its own. I'm using it as a desk lamp and most of the time I have it dimmed quite a bit.

An extra bonus I've found with it, is that I really helps improve the range of the Z-Wave network/mesh. Pretty much every other device seems to be linked to it and can use it as a repeater if necessary. It appears to have better range than other devices nearby, including switches and the controller.

Thanks for the feedback, We are using soft LED white bulbs in our living room in three of the lamps and 4 super bright led in the ceiling fan housing but we only use the lamps to light the room unless we need the light to find something on the floor etc. We probably will just replace one of the lamp bulb with a multi-color bulb and other two with a standard white bulb with z-wave to keep cost down.

I just wish there was more manufacturers making z-wave multi-color bulbs so the prices and quality would be more competitive.

Yes, I agree, given the price, the one I have is likely to be the only one for some time.

I'd also recommend the Z stick - mine works very well on the Pi with Domoticz. It also gives you the option of unplugging the stick and taking it to devices you want to link. I do find the constant blue flashing light annoying on the Z stick, but a few feet of white insulating tape covered that up :)
