Very interesting. Going to have to check this out. Thank you. :) also how many cameras are you running and at what MP total? Are you running deepstack as well? What does your cpu usage normally look like?
Do you think it's better to wait a couple of months for the prices to drop down or buy now? I won't be using the systems for another 8-10 months as my house is being built.
Don't worry about the OS. There's always other ways of getting a fresh copy.
as for the different xps versions. Could you tell me how much going from a i7 8700 to a i7 9700 will effect my performance? I know the difference is 2 more physical, loss of hyperthreading and a newer generation but...
I was honestly hoping it was going to be as easy as swaping out all the components and putting in a new psu but I had no clue the mobo would have proprietary mounts and as well as the psu not having standard connections. Didn't want to build one from scratch with the current prices and figured...
Just watched this video and it does not seem too complicated. They install a gtx 1650 low profile which sounds like it would do the job but I could not find anyone about deepstack performance when looking it up. Also the switched out the power supply for a 240w in order to install the 1650.
The...
True, that's a good idea. The only reason why I was going to put it in a case in the first place because I was planning on adding in a GPU for deep stack. I figured even a compact gpu wouldn't fit in one of those OEM cases.
Good call. I did not think anything about that. Do you think it would work if I mark out the mounting points on the rack case and then drill holes into it to screw in some custom standoffs?
Background information:
I am planning on making a server that is rack mountable which will run Blue Iris on a Windows Server. At first I tried literally EVERYTHING to get all the things I needed to run on one system to save on energy but I believe splitting up the servers is for the best. I had...
Thank you for the suggestion. I actually ended up going with an Aruba S2500-48P after a user mentioned it above. Seemed like a great switch for the price (just as you mentioned old enterprise switch) and I only paid $99 for it on ebay(tax included). I already found a video on YouTube that shows...
Yikes! Thanks for the heads up. I honestly forgotten about power draw of the unit itself. I'm going to do some more research on it. If anyone has any experience with a Aruba S2500-48P in terms of power draw. Do let me know.
Edit: just found this info
Is this worse or just about the same for...
I'm going to squeeze right into this fight here just for a quick second to to say I think I might have made up my mind about the switch. Found a used Aruba S2500-48P on ebay. I know it will be putting all my eggs in one basket but since its managed and for around $100 I honestly can't beat that...
Thank you for the explanation. Is there any difference(besides price and port count) between these two models?
