Is this the most logical server to build?

Very interesting. Going to have to check this out. Thank you. :) also how many cameras are you running and at what MP total? Are you running deepstack as well? What does your cpu usage normally look like?

Is this the most logical server to build?

Do you think it's better to wait a couple of months for the prices to drop down or buy now? I won't be using the systems for another 8-10 months as my house is being built.

Is this the most logical server to build?

Don't worry about the OS. There's always other ways of getting a fresh copy. as for the different xps versions. Could you tell me how much going from a i7 8700 to a i7 9700 will effect my performance? I know the difference is 2 more physical, loss of hyperthreading and a newer generation but...

Is this the most logical server to build?

I believe they come with a 240w psu but you can swap it out for a 360w. Sadly it's an 8700, I was looking to get the ones with an i7-9700

Is this the most logical server to build?

I was honestly hoping it was going to be as easy as swaping out all the components and putting in a new psu but I had no clue the mobo would have proprietary mounts and as well as the psu not having standard connections. Didn't want to build one from scratch with the current prices and figured...

Is this the most logical server to build?

Just watched this video and it does not seem too complicated. They install a gtx 1650 low profile which sounds like it would do the job but I could not find anyone about deepstack performance when looking it up. Also the switched out the power supply for a 240w in order to install the 1650. The...

Is this the most logical server to build?

True, that's a good idea. The only reason why I was going to put it in a case in the first place because I was planning on adding in a GPU for deep stack. I figured even a compact gpu wouldn't fit in one of those OEM cases.

Is this the most logical server to build?

Good call. I did not think anything about that. Do you think it would work if I mark out the mounting points on the rack case and then drill holes into it to screw in some custom standoffs?

Is this the most logical server to build?

Background information: I am planning on making a server that is rack mountable which will run Blue Iris on a Windows Server. At first I tried literally EVERYTHING to get all the things I needed to run on one system to save on energy but I believe splitting up the servers is for the best. I had...

    PoE Switch Suggestions

Thank you for the suggestion. I actually ended up going with an Aruba S2500-48P after a user mentioned it above. Seemed like a great switch for the price (just as you mentioned old enterprise switch) and I only paid $99 for it on ebay(tax included). I already found a video on YouTube that shows...

    PoE Switch Suggestions

I'm going to squeeze right into this fight here just for a quick second to to say I think I might have made up my mind about the switch. Found a used Aruba S2500-48P on ebay. PoE Switch Suggestions

Thanks for the heads up. Right now the best "Server room" that I have planned is the utility room with the furnace and water heater(I know, probably the worst place possible). It's fairly big so I will probably ask them to put in a wall or enclosure around part of the room to house the...

Mobo/CPU suggestions for Custom Blue Iris Server

Before someone mentions it YES I have read the wiki on this topic but I have some additional questions. I've tried asking this question on multiple forums(including LTT) but I have not received an answer so I'm hoping someone could help me out here. I have a "server" that has already been built...

    PoE Switch Suggestions

Currently we just got the entire layout of the house drawn and the civil engineers have placed the house on the land and gave us a survey of it. Next up is the loan and getting the plans looked at by the municipal for all the permits and stuff. I was already planning on doing Cat6a to each...

    PoE Switch Suggestions

Thank you everyone. I'm going to read everything you've written and the wiki as well and come up with a plan of action. It's difficult to assume the viewing distances needed since the house isn't built yet and we only have plans so far but I'm going to come up with some ideas and reply back. I'm...

    PoE Switch Suggestions

I decided on the Ankee C800 after watching The Hook Up's video on comparing cameras. I will definitly read the wiki when I get home. I already purchased 4 C800's a while back but I guess I can use those as indoor cameras and find better outdoor ones. Are there any specific ones you would...
