DAHUA PoE camera does not power with Poe switch but powers with 12v adapter

There are 3 common ways for PoE to power a device, Mode A (power on pins 1, 2, 3 & 6), Mode B (power over pins 4, 5, 7 & 8) and 8 wire (all 8 pins get used, this is for PoE++ 802.3bt). If it works over PoE++, then you just need to determine which mode has failed and find a PoE injector that...

DAHUA PoE camera does not power with Poe switch but powers with 12v adapter

https://www.dahuasecurity.com/products/productDetail/2881 According to the link above, you need 24VDC, not 24VAC. FInd any PoE splitter, 23W minimum, lots of them on Amazon, of various quality and reliability. If ethernet data is working, it is passing thru the T1transformer, not likely...

Opps - I bought the wrong Dahua camera - lens swap?

Yes, M12 is AKA S-Mount, basically M12 x .5mm thread pitch. Basically 39.3 threads per inch, needs to be fine so you can adjust focus. 16mm lens mount huh? It makes sense, starlight lenses need to have bigger optics to capture more light and get a F1.0 rating. Best I can find is a 8mm focal...

Opps - I bought the wrong Dahua camera - lens swap?

Thanks. Not feeling too bright today, spent an hour trying to find the zoom control on the fixed 3.6mm camera. Ugh.

Opps - I bought the wrong Dahua camera - lens swap?

IPC-HFW5442T-ASE-NI-3.6mm It's replacing an old Hik 2332 that I had installed a 25mm lens (back in '14), probably a 1/3" lens. I got it last year, just got around to putting it in. I thought I was getting a varifocal. But it's fixed at 3.6mm. DOH! Any known gotchas on lens swaps these...

    Total noob Home Assistant question

I did that for a while on 8th gen I7 mini pc, it should work. I fired up a Raspberry Pi 4 8GB eventually to move it over as I was sick of dealing with the Docker challenges. It started spitting out some compatibility warnings. If you are comfortable with docker, then you should be fine. I went...

DAHUA PoE camera does not power with Poe switch but powers with 12v adapter

So the cameras survived? The cool thing about ethernet is it's all balanced cabling with isolation transformers on each end. But parts are typically rated to 2kv isolation. Lightning will exceed that easily. Good idea to isolate the cameras from grounding the strike, let it find another path.

DAHUA PoE camera does not power with Poe switch but powers with 12v adapter

If you are looking to repair it, here is what the power circuit might look like. Simplified, there will be more devices hanging off it for circuit protection, but shows the basic flow. Finding replacement chips might be tough. Your best hope is finding a bad solder joint along the circuit...

For Option 1 - using Blue Iris to do notifications - no joy. Recall, I have a wimpy PC and don't want to do any image processing, AI or or in-camera. I just want my old-school alarm sensors triggering Blue Iris. I used to do this with Milestone (using Barionet), but that software is so bloated...

Thank you @Vettester & @actran! This is all very useful. I was able to get the HIKs added to HA as generic cameras for still images. (firewall issue, I had the HIKs locked down tight). I'll work on the blueprint now. I'll also be sure to try out Blue Iris MQTT, I was able to test my server...

    Hikvision POE powered cameras

Haaad, I have seen the IEEE802 spec. Min power draw by any PD is 10mA. At 37V at PD, that is .37W. So, you missed that key datapoint. Let's assume it is built to be fully 802.3af compliant. Then the 2CD2185FWD PoE circuit must draw a minimum of .37W and cannot draw any more than 12.95W to be...

    BI + Home Assistant

I have motion detection with external sensors providing notifications from Home Assistant working right now. Option 1 - Should I use Blue Iris to generate the notifications on my 3 x phones? I've setup MQTT broker on HA, was able to connect Blue Iris to broker but missing the steps on how to...

    BI + Home Assistant

I want to use Home Assistant for notifications with still images from camera. I'm struggling to figure out the best way to setup Home Assistant. I tried individual cameras, but I think I need to have Home assistant feed from Blue Iris. Not sure. Any tips?
