Hey Y'all. There are some updates to this build in the thread here - Help deciding on new install locations around house
Anyway, I have a question about the talk back cam I plan on using. If I'm using it with Blue Iris will I be able to hear the recorded audio on the video playback? Can I do...
I'm gonna ask him to just run to the soffits and leave enough slack for me to deal with myself since I'll have to order the cameras in anyway. It looks like I have 10 drops for the exterior that will come from the attic and then at least 3 planned for the interior. All of those will be PoE. So...
So, AT&T did NOT run cable for me. That's been a mess dealing with and another story entirely. I actually had a low voltage contractor come out today and he's going to get me a quote in the next few days. Apparently running cable in my house is quite difficult.
Thanks for asking!
this is my switch - Switch 48 PoE
Is it not safe to have a single cat6 from the switch to camera mounted at the tree? Is there a risk of damage to the switch? If that's the case, isn't there a risk for any outdoor camera? And if that's the case, why am I just now hearing about it? @The...
That's slick. I was going to write my own software for it as a project but if it already exists then even better! I assume that will integrate with Blue Iris?
Yes the Z12E's are for plate reading. I have this cool idea where I'd like to capture the plates with AI, read the text, store to a local database, then generate a report of all cars for a given month
The Z12E on the back awning is for looking toward the driveway - but yea, could prob...
Also, would love some insight on running cable to trees. Since AT&T may run some skeleton cable for me I'm trying to figure out the best place to have that line ran - should it come out from the soffit? Should I burry PVC all the way to the tree? Do I need some special cat6 for weather purposes...
Alright y'all. I did some more research and here's what I've come up with.
I'm thinking I'll start with the talk-back cams at the entrances, then move on to the pair 5442-ZE's at the shutters. After that, I'll go for the two tree installs for license plate captures. Finally, I'll do the...
Ok, I feel like I'm starting to get the idea here. I don't need to box myself into soffit only mounting. Heck, I could run cable out to my tree in the front yard if it'd help get a better shot. I'm going to do some more imagining and I'll report back - maybe in a new post, with all the locations...
For the rear entrance, where would the camera at the corner be looking? Maybe facing the door? Maybe there should be two there: one facing the door, another facing the driveway? And what about to the left of the rear entrance? A boobie cam facing down and another facing outward, capturing the...
