    Moving to new home

Ok thanks. I'll see what happens when the time comes. In the meantime I bought 2 ring battery stick up cams with solar chargers a couple weeks ago. They have been working pretty darn good and will be sufficient for the rest of our time here and the first month or so at the next place. They...

    Moving to new home

Not sure yet. We currently have internet through Centurylink an old Centurylink router. Centurylink is available there. As is Spectrum. Both places are rural locations in the country.

    Moving to new home

I have 2 hikvision cameras and a Hikvision NVR. Been running the cameras since 2015 and they still work perfectly so want to keep using them. For many years I ran them with blue iris on a desktop, but after my desktop crashed (only used it for the cameras) I just purchased a NVR to run them and...

    external IP changes

Do I need to change this now in BI also? In the Options -> Web Server tab -> External IP address -> do I now put in the Dyndns name address I set up? Or do I leave it as is with the external IP numbers and set to check for router external IP automatically every 15 min?

    external IP changes

Ok, cool. It just seemed too easy to get it all setup! I usually end up with all kinds of problems so I thought this was too easy and suspicious that it worked right off the bat. Thanks!

    external IP changes

I purchased the yearly subscription with dyndns. I downloaded and set up the DYN Updater. It seems to be working. I can access the BI remote viewer using the dyndns address I set up. I am not so sure i entered the correct IP in the DynDNS settings though. I was a little confused about that. I...

    external IP changes

Yea, not happy it changed so soon. (only had these cameras about a month) Having to change all the different remote access bookmarks on different laptops/phones is a pain if it needs to be done this often!

    external IP changes

So, my external IP changed, while we were away for the weekend, which means I had no access to the cameras remotely all weekend. Don't want that to happen again!!! So is DynDNS.org the way to go to prevent this? I am not sure if I can set a static external IP in my router. I have a lynksys...

    video success!

It is a DS-2CD2120-I. I am VERY happy with these cameras, after first trying Foscam, which gave us terrible videos. code2...In the 27 years we have lived on this property we have seen many wolves. (Very few have collars around here). We even had what we think was a male and female pair that we...

    video success!

Just 4 days after installing our new Hikvision cams we scored. Capturing wildlife that walk through our property is exactly why we wanted them, and this is a good one. The jury is still out on if it is a wolf or coyote, hard to tell for sure, but either way I am thrilled with the location of...

    All alerts quit working

So glad you got yours figured out too. I know how much we rely on the notifications to let us know if there is any motion out there! And thanks for the info on the lightscreen. Another program to check out :) I didn't take the time to get familiar with 8.1. Bought the new desktop computer...

    All alerts quit working

I even mustered up the courage to go out there and walk around in the dark by myself to test them. It worked!

    All alerts quit working

Ok, I have lowered the make time. I will work on the duplicate camera setup in the morning. My brain is fried for tonight! Thank you, thank you! I don't think I would have slept tonight without some sort of answers to this.
