I also got this camera DS-2CD2386G2.IU. My latest firmware is V5.5.160 build 210416 Unfortunatly I can not find the G2 firmware in the portal. With google I found this page with the latest firmware: DS-2CD2386G2-I(U) But when I try to update the firmware, it failes. I also tried the Hikvision...

I use codec H264 for both and same other settings for both.

I am pretty sure that I got an 8MP camera, because of this label on the box. Although, the camera acts more like a 4MP when I see the video.

I had the Hikvision camera's DS-2CD2385FWD-I and I changed them for the DS-2CD2386G2-U, because of the better sensor. After installing I discovered that the DS-2CD2386G2-U has more bad quality at day than the DS-2CD2385FWD-I, even when the pictures are still. When zooming in on a licenceplate...

I tried all settings I think. At the end 'automatic' was the best. Now I am waiting for the 8MP hikvision with the 1/1.8 sensor to test. I hope this one will be a better option.

Thank you for telling me that 2386G2 isa superior upgrade. What do you mean with ColorVu G2 camera's? Is the 2386G2 such a camera? Because this camera is 8MP

My goal was to have color at night. I did not succeed with the dahua. So I have to fall back on IR (black and white) When I do IR, the Hikvision is better with the 8MP camera than the 4MP Dahua. Much sharper video. But you are right, the sensor of the Dahua should be better because of the 1/1.8...

I tested this camera a lot, with a lot of different settings. Unfortuneatly I have to go back to my old camera, the Hikvision DS-2CD2385FWD-I This because this camera makes better picture. The Dahua in color is ghosting at night, even if I have a bit of light. (More than starlight ;-)
