Spots in FOV of new IPC-HDW5231R-ZE in IR mode

Agreed. I have it adjusted to the point where the spots are more faint, and I can also see a bit of the wall (and the door). Kind of a semi-happy medium :)

Spots in FOV of new IPC-HDW5231R-ZE in IR mode

Zooming in makes the spots larger and more diffuse. I'm thinking there might be dust on the inside of the window, which only became apparent under these conditions.

Mounting turret cam on stucco wall

As to the automatic flood, it actually isn't an issue, we've found. It's a seamless transition from IR to visible light. Huzzah!

Indeed, I certainly wouldn't go against the mfg recommendation for a light fixture. But most light fixtures aren't rated for being dropped into 1m of water for 1/2 hour. And like I said, Dahua seems to provide adequate connection accessories for sealing off the CAT5e interface, at least for...

Spots in FOV of new IPC-HDW5231R-ZE in IR mode

Here's a pic of the installation - I'll try the wet cloth tonight after work.

Spots in FOV of new IPC-HDW5231R-ZE in IR mode

I threw a shirt over the fixture...no substantial change.

Spots in FOV of new IPC-HDW5231R-ZE in IR mode

I turned the camera - to the left, actually the opposite of what you suggested now that I reread it. But it did give me a bit of data. The smaller bright circle in the center of the original image does move; i.e., stays in the same spot relative to FOV. When I moved it back, I didn't return...

Spots in FOV of new IPC-HDW5231R-ZE in IR mode

The first night after installing the subject camera, there are some spots showing up when the camera goes into IR mode. No issues with visible light. This is also the first time the camera operated without the protective film in place. I waited until the unit was installed and fully buttoned...

Mounting turret cam on stucco wall

Thanks! I put a bit of caulk where the cable comes through the wall, but left the mount itself un-sealed. The connection of the house CAT5e and the camera pigtail is pretty well protected, and the camera itself is IP67, so a I'm not too concerned about a bit of moisture getting into the mount...

Mounting turret cam on stucco wall

Noted...but we don't often use those lights (there's 3 in a row). And if I got them out of FOV, the "man door" to the garage would not be in frame. There is, however, a motion-activated flood, just above the camera. I plan to test that out tonight and see if it causes any issues - pausing to...

Mounting turret cam on stucco wall

Update: Installed today! We opted for using rods, and fishing the wall, using an opening on the inside wall that now has a blank plate. Results:

    Review-Dahua Starlight IPC-HDW5231R-ZE 800 meter capable ePOE

Well - I think the key was to post here and then try it again, as for some reason when I came back down to the workbench, I must have worked it on juuust right. She's all set now, and ready for a quick test for orientation :headbang:

    Review-Dahua Starlight IPC-HDW5231R-ZE 800 meter capable ePOE

I didn't read through the entire thread, so I'm not sure if any posters encountered this. I was just in the process of mounting this camera on a PFB203W wall mount. After I attached the pedestal to the wall mount, I found that I couldn't get the camera enclosure to slip back onto the...

    VPN Primer for Noobs

I have an Edgerouter-X on the way, although I still only have a vague idea of what I'm going to do with it. The basic thought is, keep using my TP-Link Archer D9 DSL modem/router for internet access, but use the Edgerouter for its more robust and configurable firewall (the TP-Link doesn't even...

Mounting turret cam on stucco wall

Having given it some further thought, I think that instead of fishing the cable, I'll run a stick of EMT down the inside wall from the room above, then poke through the wall at the mount point. "I'll" is used loosely here...I'm getting a hand from some colleagues who do that work routinely, as...
