Like you, after some thought, I'm wondering if the output is only powered when the cam uses external power (i.e. not POE). Tinkering will tell. Space is limited to my camera...- HoosierD

Probably trying to flash the wrong firmware. What version are you trying? -
Axis vs. Dahua
I ran quite a few Axis IP PTZ cameras starting back in the beginning (around 2011). Now these were $3K-4K cameras at 720P resolution and simply amazing for the time. They were great in the day and accessible in the US. Now I know of Andy, I my entire flet is Dahua and I'll never go back. -

Best practise for time sync
I too use my BI Server and NetTime as the NTP time source for all my cams. Zero open ports in todays world. -
IPC-B5442E-ZE Login Issue After Firmware
Alright. No clue what happened. I powered off for 10+ minutes, pushed reset on the cam in that period (to drain capacitance if present), cleared my cache, and I got in. Straight up no clue what happened there. -

I like the "I caught these guys last night" on Nextdoor with my respone of "you observed them, no one was caught and they won't be with grainy poor angle crappy night video" . And as you, share sone 2MP starlight samples. That always gets people worked up.- HoosierD

How much P on a POE slitter?
I understand running two cables to each location, and have two CAT5 cables in this location. I wanted to save the extra as the intended backup. Apparently two cables are pointless if one were to exceet 802.3at which allows for 25.5W max over the cable and an illuminator exceeds that. But...- HoosierD
