Viewing Station (another thread) for lots of IP cameras - 64 to be exact

Wait, I think my mind just exploded! These are HDMI to fiber and back to HDMI without the need for converters? I guess there is enough voltage on the HDMI bus to run these like they are transceivers in a network switch? This is black magic beautifulness!

Viewing Station (another thread) for lots of IP cameras - 64 to be exact

I agree with you, there's definitely no HDCP content in the window, but at 1920x1080 I get a steady on/off blinking LED for the HDCP light on the SIIG. If I try to push the resolution up to 4K I lose that blinking LED, goes completely dark and I can't seem to get it to sync back up. If I bring...

Viewing Station (another thread) for lots of IP cameras - 64 to be exact

It looks like I'm using a SIIG Model # CE-H23E11-S1 Which says it's good for 60 meters, but after a lot of Google searches and trying to interact with SIIG tech support, the 60 meters is only for HD 1080, not 4K. Oh, this is interesting, I was just googling the model number and now the SIIG...

Viewing Station (another thread) for lots of IP cameras - 64 to be exact

Hey there, BI Junkies! Can you offer any recommendations for configuring a viewing station for my on-site staff desk? My objective is to display all of our camera live views, but also display the triggered cameras in a prominent way so that our on-site staffer that sits at the monitoring desk...

Thank you, Fenderman! At only $184 for 16 channels / no HDD, it's definitely within budget. Thanks again for the expertise!

Multi-channel Analog to IP video encoder that plays nice with BI?

Hello - In the process of installing a bunch of new Hikvision IP cameras that are recording back to a dedicated Blue Iris "server". The only problem is that I also have to replace eight (8) analog Bosch LTC 0455/21 cameras with IP cameras and unfortunately that means having the time to pull...

Hardware Recommendation (emphasis on hardware decoding / offloading)

Hello IPcam folks! I was hoping with more experience in building Blue Iris "servers" could weigh in here to give me some hardware recommendations / suggestions. I've read the Blue Iris Recommended Specs, but I can't quite find what I'm looking for when focusing on hardware decoding or hardware...

Using Serial Interface on Blue Iris Server to Open or Close a Garage Door?

I wanted to thank everyone again with a special thanks going out to @randytsuch !!! I'm polishing up my project right now and I'll be creating a new post that shows the DIY products used, steps, code, etc. I ended up buying two, WeMos D1 Mini boards and one 5V relay shield. WeMos #1 is a...

Using Serial Interface on Blue Iris Server to Open or Close a Garage Door?

LOL @Nanookofthenorth !!! I like a challenge. ;) Plus, if I can get this to work, I'm going to use this same relay principle in other applications as well. Not to mention, this whole fishing expedition is going to cost me around $17. Cost of a new, WiFi enabled garage door opener? $$$$$...

Using Serial Interface on Blue Iris Server to Open or Close a Garage Door?

@randytsuch Thank you again for all of the advice! I was doing a bunch more reading after I posted that and decided to pull the trigger on exactly what you suggest, wemos + relay shield. I also went ahead and bought the other amazon one too, the all-in-one ESP8266 and relay, I also bought a...

Using Serial Interface on Blue Iris Server to Open or Close a Garage Door?

OK, I think I'm getting the hang of this! But unfortunately it's lead me to a couple of questions ... Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and he'll ask you questions about fish, lures, rods, and reels for the rest of your life!! :lmao::rofl::lol: I found this ...

Using Serial Interface on Blue Iris Server to Open or Close a Garage Door?

Randy - Thanks so much for the advice! Yes, my entire system is behind a firewall and VPN. Because I'm so paranoid, I actually have to launch my VPN client before I open the Blue Iris app on my phone (I don't fully trust Stunnel and NGROK against vulnerabilities). With the wemos mini D1...

Using Serial Interface on Blue Iris Server to Open or Close a Garage Door?

HOLY COW THOSE ARE EXPENSIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the advice on the voltage, would never have thought of that. Next thing you know I go running 12 VDC through my serial interface and burn the motherboard on my Blue Iris server out. Looks like I'm going to go with my original plan ...
