Quick update - I've had two crashes back to back and a corrupt database after updating to 5.7.7.12 (released June 15). That is the only change I made. Thought it would be useful to post the ongoing saga for other people in the future who might be searching for help on a similar situation...

P.S. As an added bonus after installing Intel driver 30.0.101.1692, my CPU usage has dropped a little bit to a fairly steady 19-21%.
