Hi.
Ive just bought 2 of these (one at @12mm and another at 6mm which I might end up setting up on my neighbours property for him) to play with OpenALPR. My understanding is that they will only run chinese hacked firmware and that newer updates are signed so cannot be decompiled? Could you let...
This is a fantastic review - Thank you. This camera has been on my shortlist for a while.
I need a cheapish camera to use with OpenALPR with excellent night performance. The key here is that you can get a well exposed numberplate without it washing out due to over exposure? I understand that...
IPC-HDW4231EM-AS which can be supplied with a 6mm lens which apparently is 51degree angle of view - how do i convert this so i know what the field of view is at a distance of 8 meters?
Hi,
Im looking for an ip camera to do day and hopefully some night or at least dusk license plate recognition.
These new starlight Dahuas interest me due to their low resolution cropped substream and good low light sensitivity.
My setup is as follows:
3.5m wide entrance
8m away camera mounting...
12mm doesnt have many applications indoors unless its a warehouse. You might use it directly over the till or prep area, this would give you a very small field of view. conversely 2.8mm is very wide - almost fisheye it will give you a good coverage of the whole room from the corner but with...
Thanks for the link.
The camera was supplied like this. Does this mean I cannot apply a chinese firmware without reversing the MTD hack (assuming this is possible)?
Do you know if 5.3.0 supports TLS?
Alternatively, Does anyone know if I can safely flash a chinese firmware on this with the language flag modified? Or is there a chinese IPC R0 firmware which supports TLS?
It depends somewhat on the room layout, but in general fixed wide or fisheye cameras are better unless you will have an operator managing the cameras. Auto tracking PTZ cameras are normally not advisable in busy environments as there are too many possible objects to track.
Cameras that count numbers of pills etc are used in the process industry but cost a lot of money. Fitting any form of camera should be a deterrent however and you would expect to see a reduction in thefts because *most* people dont know how smart the camera is, only that they are being watched...
Hi,
I have a DS-2CD3132F-IWS running firmware v5.2.5.
I have found v5.2.5 does not support TLS email support which I need for gmail notifications.
The language flag is set to 1 however the serial of the unit has CH in it.

I assume this camera takes an IPC...
