    Got it installed and working!

Asked my buddy that set it up and he said: "He should try logging into the Web interface of the camera and make sure it works. The username and password is going to be the same knew he uses to log into the camera directly. Make sure the ip address and port number are correct. Your cameras...

    Got it installed and working!

With the help of a buddy that uses their commercial s/w it's all up and running, amazing stuff for a FREE application. Even he said he couldn't believe all the features offered in the free version. Glad I stuck with it...

XProtect Essential+ install - "Could not configure the server..."

I got it, thanks. It does look like it was worth the effort. Re-installed Windows 7, updated, installed .net 4.51 and 3.5 sp1 (turned on in Windows components) and wala!

XProtect Essential+ install - "Could not configure the server..."

OK, thanks. Did that (and deleted remaining files), now it's coming up with an error about an "unauthorized download site" so I'm uninstalling it and will try again. I definitely got it from their site. edit: now it won't even uninstall...

Help unbricking a Dahua NVR with TFTP and serial connection.

Thanks for the reply but I really doubt it will work. We tried a direct serial to serial connection and also this bridge: TUSB3410 UART/I2C/IrDA Serial Port to USB Bridge | TI.com Going to set up Milestone with a VPN, no more NVR's for me!

    Q-See NVR won't boot.

My Q-See was a re-branded Dahua from what I read. It had old firmware and was exposed through open ports. I think I fall into the second scenerio below: Attacks against Dahua units: * 'Bashis Generation 2 and 3' authentication bypasses (CVE-2017-7927, ICSA-17-124-02) are attempted against...

Check out my other threads, not a lot of help leads me to think we're fooked: Help unbricking a Dahua NVR with TFTP and serial connection. Flash Dahua NVR with TFTP and RS232?

Help unbricking a Dahua NVR with TFTP and serial connection.

I connected to the RS232 port on the back of the unit, inside it lead to just three wires that plugged into the board (tx, rx and grd I assume). Not sure what you mean by "the usual serial TTL connection on the mainboard"? Is there usually another another spot on the board that is used for...

Help unbricking a Dahua NVR with TFTP and serial connection.

Well I had a knowledgeable buddy come over with his high end USB to serial cable and the best we could get out of it was {RXERR} when it was powered up. This only happened with null modem (cross over) cable. Unless someone can add anything useful I think I'll pronounce this thing...
