Thank you for the clarification. I used CCleaner and CCleaner calls them plug-ins. But, within Edge, I see now that they are called extensions.

I think I discovered the culprit: I disabled all the Edge plug-ins (a bunch of Bitdefender plugins and 2 from MS -- IE to Edge conversion) and the problem is no longer there. Thank you guys!

Absolutely. I have Wireguard across all my sites, so I can open a browser tab to 192.168.x.x:81. Makes things very nice indeed.
