I hadn't needed to toy with it for a long time, then my Home assistant integration stopped changing it to night mode at dusk. I fixed that and now i'm seeing a lot of wash out, so i'll have to tinker around a bit and see what is up. Thankfully can still barely make out a lot of the letters...
Ranging from darn near to perfect , thx all for the advice. will keep tweaking a little every day but much closer today than i was at the start.
For those that read this later what ended up helping, bumping contrast and lowering sharpness and lowering to 1/1000. also switched to natural...
Cranked up gain and iris a bit (a lot a bit with iris) and 1:2 so far. time to tinker more. But that one that did come in looked much more like your all's plates. looks like the lighted was almost too light, so will turn down iris a bit and see how it works
hah, now with my latest adjustments, got the plate of this one, but thing i found funny is it doesn't even see the tail lights which were on when the car passed based on my other camera :D
Had the sharpness high and contract low which probably caused some of my issues. new settings below...
I don't disagree it seems like the IR doesn't reach that far on this camera, you'd think a camera's IR would be designed to reach the practical range of the camera >.> how do you power the illuminator?
I might try changing iframe fps at night. I would have assumed lowering fps would lead to blurriness, what does lowering it tend to do?
I'm using home assistant to handle day night, and have modded it to also control changing focus but found that was being handled by the profile change...
so here are some samples with the latest settings. The one having trouble could be the unreflective, but i think these are all the same plate. Actually, as i type this, i think the settings for that third picture (my test run) aren't what was used in the last 2, i mustnot have hit save >.> I...
i am controlling it switching to night using home assistant, and yes as you see in the first post i am using b&w
did some more testing tonight, dropped it down to 1/1000, and cranked the NR/gain/iris down a lot and seems to be doing "ok" will have to see a couple other cars go through other...
We only have back plates in this state, the both plates looked to be illuminated but hard to tell from the overview camera. it is 100% when a vehicle is moving quickly it is blurred. I'll attempt your setting which increases 2d noise reduction, lower 3d, and a bit more gain.
The cameras...
hey wittaj, 2 from this evening. 1 very visible, the other a completely mess, maybe an hour difference between the two.
The one that was clear was going much slower than a normal vehicle, and the blurry was going probably faster (which the cars i'd probably care about will be probably driving...
