New modem has same ip as camera network

For starters, you are not obligated to continue to use 192.168.0.0/24. In fact, choose any other RFC1918 address space besides that! The 10 space is a good but 172 says this someone who is clearly thinking about network design. While network segmentation is good, assigning a cam a default...

    router for VPN

"best" is a subjective word to use. You do get what you pay for with consumer grade networking equipment. You should make sure your Asus firmware is up to date otherwise it will be owned via heartbleed.

VPN on router or Synology NAS?

Assuming OpenVPN can be trusted your question should be more about risk management: If a host or a device is compromised what is my exposure risk? What do I stand to lose? Additionally, do I have the knowledge or tools to determine that my equipment has been breached? Out of the gate...

Roof mounted "inverted" PTZ cam suggestions

I don't trust anyone's equipment to have an outbound connection. Sadly, most people do not have the skillset to protect their edge connection to the Internet. https://yro.slashdot.org/story/19/12/12/204240/inside-the-podcast-that-hacks-ring-camera-owners-live-on-air Understood. Thanks for...

Where to download the .apk for BlueIris?

I run modified firefox client the mostly prevents third party javascript from running so hopefully that will not be an issue. Cool. Once I get operational I will check it out!

Where to download the .apk for BlueIris?

Ah. Never occurred to me that would be the case. I just assumed that since I bought a server license that the app came along with it. :(

Where to download the .apk for BlueIris?

I compile my own AOSP ROM to avoid Google Play et al and so I can customize my phone with additional software. I cannot find where BlueIris puts its .apk's for download .. does anyone know? Also, would like a CRC hash to validate the .apk. Thanks!

    Setup and location advice.

Sweet bit of info there. I was thinking I would not be able to use an auto PTZ because I dont have a long driveway. :P

Roof mounted "inverted" PTZ cam suggestions

When you say "AI cams" do you mean cams that are directly connected to the internet to process the video for auto PTZ control?

Roof mounted "inverted" PTZ cam suggestions

It is. :D When I did a search on amazon for "PTZ1A225U-IRA-N" Empire Tech was a result. Somewhere in a review a customer linked Empire Tech back to ipcamtalk.com. Always good to see that!

Roof mounted "inverted" PTZ cam suggestions

The cameras that @master_tinkerer have in service are the style that I am trying to avoid. It would be easy to take a ceiling flush mount PTZ and invert it. :D But what I dont know is if doing that would cause the unit to malfunction.

    Been Broken Into

The good news is that you do not need to fork over money monthly if you want an alarm system: https://www.alarmliquidators.com/honeywell-vista-20p-6160rf-3-5816wmwh-5800pir-res-5834-4-battery-siren-jack-and-cord-package/ I hooked everything up on the table while watching youtube videos to...

Roof mounted "inverted" PTZ cam suggestions

Our new house sits on a hill and has an amazing 20+ mile view in nearly all directions. I was thinking about putting a PTZ camera on the roof but most of the models hang down. Are there any that surface mount and spin 360 degrees?
