You're probably right. I was just trying to follow best practice guidelines. The splice is indoors thankfully. At least I have the option of bypassing my patch panel if I think that's really necessary. Of course I'm miffed that the guys left so little free cable when they pulled it. Basic no no.

That's what I'm using currently as the splice. Had to try a couple before finding one that seemed to keep the signal decent.
