Windows 10 Update to Version 2004

I had a lot of grief with this update, specilfically 'Running as Service'. Lots of error messages about incorrect passwords; usual M$ gibberish. I had to do a restore OS in place to get it sorted. Very time consuming and a right PITA! YKMV! Rick

Raspberry Pi Users Unite: What are you using your Raspberry Pi Devices For?

I have three Pi 3b+, all in use, and one Pi 4b waiting on stable 64 bit OS and boot via USB support. One 3b+ is running pi-hole (no surprise here), one running LibreElec feeding an old Plasma TV, and two runnig Volumio to stream music from our file server to powered speakers in various parts of...

    Windows client?

Thanks for the Radmin info. I have also learned to dislike TeamViewer, so found Radmin to be spectacularly simple, yet efficient. I now have a headless BI PC sitting in our telecom rack. For general local viewing we use ui3. For specific BI configuration, I will use Radmin. Next project...

    Blue Iris UI3

Thanks for the tip! Installed Chromium browser and it does work very nicely. Thanks. Next project! Find a SH AIO on ebay, install Mint + Chromium and leave it running Ui3 in the family room. Rick

    Blue Iris UI3

Morning All. Sorry if this has already been posted. I just tried Ui3 on a Linux machine (Mint 19.3) with Firefox. As fas as I can see, it works really well. Thanks to the devs. Rick

    Condensation inside 'new' camera

I had the same problem with a new SD22404T-GN. Cost me 2 call-back from the install guy and lots of searching. However, after about a week, it just disappeared - nothing we did - and has been good as gold ever since. YMMV Rick

    Blue Iris UI3

I'm a Chrome hater from way back, but unfortunately it is the most efficient way to access Ui3. It even runs almost smoothly on a 5 yo under-powered android tablet. Rick

What do you think? Are you ready for this?

I have Linux Mint 19 on our file server. Quite easy to set-up and maintain, and the best part is that most Linux distros aren't all that fussy about hardware, with high-end GPU's possibly the exception. My current 'work' machine runs Win 7 which loses support on 20th January next year. When...

    VPN Primer for Noobs

Thanks for the heads-up. Looks very good. Unfortunately they sell for just under $400 +P&H in this part of the world; I just bought a brand-new Asus ac68u for $150 delilvered. Rick

    VPN Primer for Noobs

I've just setup piVPN on a 3b+. I've tried to get VPN running on a variety of dd-wrt routers and a Win 10 machine with no luck, but this worked first time. Using BlueIris for Android for remote checks. If anyone's interested, I started here: PiVPN Rick

    Opinion sought for BI computer

I bought the HP EliteDesk 800 g2 off ebay. Built like a brick xxxxx, and very easy to work on. Mine came with an i5-6400 CPU which showed constant 40% CPU load with 4 Dahua cameras.. I put in an i7-6400 with much better results. I also replaced the main HDD with an SDD I had lying around...

Newbie needing a sanity check before going forward

Another vote for a dual NIC arrangment. Considering the current price of even Intel branded NIC's, it's a very affordable option and there's lots of posts on how to do it. Rick
