Too many of our colleges are cranking out anti-American, radicalized activists, socialists and urban terrorists instead of innovative, pro-American, productive and contributing members of a democratic society.

I Translated Egypt's Locker Room Prayer... You Won't Believe What They Said
Raymond Ibrahim

This video by Raymond Ibrahim analyzes a pregame prayer ritual performed by the Egyptian soccer team. He argues that the prayers are not traditional sportsmanship but rather reflect radical religious sentiments.

Key points from the video:

  • Content of the Prayer: Ibrahim translates the team's prayer (0:53-1:06), noting that it includes verses from the Quran that he describes as condemnations of Christians and Jews. Specifically, he highlights recitations of Quran 112 and Quran 5 as direct attacks on the Christian belief in the Trinity and the divinity of Jesus Christ (2:37-3:15).
  • Allegations of Discrimination: The video discusses longstanding accusations that Egypt systematically excludes its indigenous Coptic Christian citizens from professional soccer teams (4:42-5:07). Ibrahim suggests the team's prayer reflects an underlying exclusion of Christians from their own ranks.
  • The Aftermath of the Match: The video concludes by covering the reaction of the Egyptian head coach, Hassam Hassan, following their loss to Argentina (5:36-6:00). Hassan criticized the outcome, claiming the world and the sport are unfair and vowing not to watch the rest of the World Cup (7:03-7:37).
Ibrahim characterizes these events as evidence of institutionalized religious tension, suggesting that the team’s rhetoric and the coach's behavior are symptomatic of deeper societal issues regarding religious tolerance in Egypt (7:42-8:00).
