I have my Hikvision Turret setup to email me on Line Crossing Detection and most times the picture of the people are blurry but the rest is sharp.

More light.
Or a more sensitive cam like the dahua Starvis 2MP. If that is a 5MP cam it will typically have poor performance at night and will need additional light. More light means you can use a faster shutter speed which will fix the motion blur you are seeing in that pic.
The stuff that doesn't move looks better but honestly that camera won't be a good night cam.

My experience is that 2MP cameras, particularly Starlights, have a much better and crisper image at night than most 4-5MP cams.

(make sure and switch youtube player to 1080p)

Beyond that, add a lot of white light if you want to use forced color

And/or increase shutter speed along with more IR to help freeze the motion

ThanX folks, I will see if SWMBO will let me upgrade at least one camera.

Anyone know if the Dahua would work with Hikvision DS-7608NI-I2/8P NVR?

The Dahua will work with the Hik NVR, but you won't be able to use the Smart Events, such as line crossing etc. The recording of the video and basic motion detection will work.

You could try the Hik Low Light camera, have a look at this link, to retain the functionality.

ThanX @MrRalphMan,
I currently have line crossing setup on the cameras and to email me, not to email me from the NVR. Also dump to an FTP from the camera

I have that 3MP Turret in my backyard, keeping an eye on my backdoor. Only wish I had gone with a bigger mm lens. One day I might attempt to upgrade the lens

If you place your cameras so people are walking towards the camera instead of across its field of view you will get less blurring as well.

start by decreasing your shutter speed (increasing numeric). default is 1/30, try 1/60th or even 1/100.
will make image darker, but there may be enuf light to make the trade-off worth it for less motion blur...

After making some changes, which seemed to make images even more blurry. I started getting intermittent line crossing detection emails.
Put things back and emails are a bit better but still sporadic. (another topic for another day)
