Will leaving the IR on my Dahua Starlights on all the time be ok or is it best to turn them off during the day time. If so, how do I change this in blue iris? I can not find the setting to do this automatically. thanks for the assistance.

You can log into the camera to change the IR and day-night settings, but if you haven't changed them, the cameras should be set to "auto" for day-night switching. If you have a color picture during the day, the IR should be off. I don't think there's a way to force it on even if you wanted to.

Should be set to auto in the camera... If you want blue iris to do it hold the IR button until there's a small green a for Auto... The option Blue Iris actually controls day/ night.. not ir only...

Blue Iris can be configured to turn IR on and off. In Camera Properties on the Schedule tab select the Event Schedule button at the bottom right. There you can set up events such as IR ON/OFF for selected profiles, times of day and relative to sunrise/sunset.
