I have searched through forum and can't find and threads that provide a solution with Cricket/AT&T not connecting via WAN. I can’t connect to BI remote UI3 WAN when I use my Cricket mobile data. If I use my Wifi on the phone and connect LAN it works fine. I have also had bp2008 try to connect on WAN and he was successful so I know the port is working. (Also checked with canyouseeme.org and was good) I can see my carrier ip trying to connect in the Blue Iris Status -> Connections Tab but it doesn’t look like it ever connects. The Time column showed 2 seconds in one instance. When I try to login in I get a “Login failed but Blue Iris didn’t return a reason”. One time it showed logged in on the BI Connection Status, but the UI3 stayed on the login screen. I tried disabling the UI3 and when I try to log in it stays stuck on the login screen. I have cleared cache on phone, restarted, etc. Again, it works in LAN connections, but not WAN.

Are you using an Android? I am having issues with this on my S8+. I contacted BI, they asked me to take the Lan address out and try again. Changing the server details and my connection type between lan/4g changed the behavior. They forwarded the issue to the Android developer.

I am using an Android phone, ZTE. I am trying to log in using the UI3 browser interface which works fine on my Android on LAN but not WAN. Love Blue Iris, but would sure like the WAN to work when remote. I haven't tried my phone when connecting to a Public Wifi.

So Fenderman, you are saying you have Cricket and no problems on WAN. Are you using VPN.

I just checked my mobile login to Blue Iris Web Server on WAN using Lowes Wifi. Worked fine. Still not working on Cricket mobile data.

I was having a similar issue with my mobile data service, which is Virgin Canada. I usually have Restrict Background Data turned on and removing that restriction resolved my issue.

srglassw Thanks for the tip, but I checked and I don't have any Restrict Background Data turned on. On my phone I have to check each app, and I checked Chrome and Google. Neither were restricted.

Fenderman - thanks for the correction. I am hoping someone else has Cricket and can comment.

Worst case consider the VPN..you'll kill two birds...also see the ngrok suggestion...
Do you have a VPN you recommend. I don't think my Actiontec t3200 router supports VPN on the router so I guess I would install it on the PC?

Fenderman, thank you for the ngrok suggestion. While investigating VPN, I tried the ngrok suggestion and it worked great. It appears I will have to upgrade from free to Basic if I want to keep the ngrok address for BIue Iris. I need to study it a little more to see how to keep ngrok active all the time and keep the same address so I can put a link on each of my phones.

Hamachi is free and will provide VPN... Or you can use an ASUS router with openvpn... If the Actiontec is a combo unit required by Verizon then you will need to put it in bridge mode and run basis behind it

I got a suggestion from another site that recommended changing my Port from 81 to 8080. That resolved the issue and I can now connect LAN or WAN. Not sure why it works. At least I have a solution, until I investigate VPN solution more. Thanks for everyone's input.
