Hi!

I have a need to get a notification on my phone when a fox enters a specific area.

Foxes are small and the area is about 30-50 meters away from camera mounting position.
I have the ability to install IR-light but have problems with installing a PIR since i requires a cable across my lawn and I dont want that.

What camera should I go for? I figure 4/6mm lens would be appropriate, and some IR-light. Problem seems to be the notification part. I would prefer email but my grey market hikvision now seems impossible to get working with emails, and send alot of false alarms.

Please guide me in the right direction, thank you!
Oh, I dont have a NVR but try to set up tinyCam on an adroid box but cant say im impressed.

Do you need to distinguish between squirrels, possums, foxes? Where are you or what are your local small animals? This is a 56 degree pict from 30 meters up a tower. Fox would be pretty small. Bottom pic has 3 deer at about 40 meters. Then a squirrel in the first two pics. I could only guess at the zoom power. 4x

Nice pictures. I don't think I need ptz as a 6mm lens would cover the entire area of interest. I also don't have to distinguish between different animals. Just need it to alert me of any fox size object entering in area. I live in Central Sweden.

That's lens focal length, not diameter.

When setup properly, TinycamPro works very well, but I'm not sure it's motion detection will do what you want.
Unless you want to continue to get a lot of false alarms, then you need a cam with a good zoom. You need lots of pixels on target.
Something like this will give a chance at achieving your goal.

You need to use something other than just camera motion if you want to cut false alarms.
You either need to use Dahua's IVS features, or use a PC with Blue Iris and BI zone crossing feature.
