Interesting move, I personally don’t think corporates were yet ready for the locked down Edge. It does lol like they’ve now incorporated Enrerpriss Mode into Edge.

In terms of the Stone Age, I think corporates weren’t ready to spend the money to redevelop their business critical apps so that they worked with Edge.

Indeed! Corporations would rather take the loans out to buy back stock...

Corporates could be spending even more money maintaining old legacy application than redeveloping it so it not tied and part of the OS in event of future OS upgrade. Reason back then that there wasn't much you could with a browser compare to today's html5 standard with javascript which you could almost write a full blown application to run in a browser without any add-on as long you have the bandwidth to handle it.

Here one article of our own Navy still using Windows XP and spending millions of dollars to continue have contract with Microsoft to keep security patches update even it at the end of it life -

My dad still has a netbook running windows XP. I tried to update teamviewer on it (they claim that even their latest version works on XP). It doesn't work on XP. I had to get in by other means to downgrade teamviewer by two major versions to get it running again!
