Hi guys, I'm in the process of ordering 4 cameras and a NVR for my inlaws for a christmas gift, so I hope someone can help me.

I've been recommended the following setup

3 or 4 x Hikvision DS-2CD2332-I 4mm
1 x DS-7604NI-E1/4P NVR.

The forrest to the north is at a lower level, it's possible to climb up to the house though, but burglers wont take that route when leaving with goods as it slopes quite heavily, so it might only be a possible entrance point.

The forrest to the left of the house (west) is same level as the house, with just a a 2 high wall between.

There are two entrances to the house, main entrance is to the right of the house. Second entrance is a staircase that leeds up to the small patio on the 1st floor to the left of the house where there is a glass door entrance. There is also a door leading out to the large patio ontop of the open garage.

1) What would the optimal placement of the cameras be?
2) would you recommend 3 or 4 cameras?
3) is there a better option than the Hikvision DS-2CD2332-I 4mm and the DS-7604NI-E1/4P NVR, in the same price range?

THANK YOU! awesome forum

Have you considered the Huisun mini PTZ cameras? Based on the favorable reviews I would have went that route.

While these cameras provide a good image, reliability has yet to be proven. The turrets are a good choice. OP the overhead image is insufficient to determine mounting location..best thing to do is figure out what you want covered and go out there with a long cord and see for yourself.

+1 on the Hikvision turrets, but bear in mind night vision over large unlit areas will challenge these units.

The Hik 2332's is the best start... One at the front door, one at the back and one over the garage at least. great gift, but don't forget the install gift which is the hardest part; pulling cables, climbing ladders, drilling holes and then setting up nvr.

+1 Buying the cameras is the fun part; pulling cables, climbing ladders and drilling holes is a tough job sometimes and easy to underestimate...but to hire a professional if you can afford it.

I know I am a absolute novice at this but it seems as if three or four cameras for such a property is a bit sparse for coverage. So much uncovered. If a person is going to be hired to install the cable, the cost of the extra runs will be minimal compared to to having someone come back a second time when you decide you need more coverage.

I agree with the 2.8 or 4mm turrets; either Hikvision or LTS. I have been upgrading from the 2032's to the turrets. Much better product although the 2032s have served me well.

Looks like a nice property with wide area to cover. If you think that criminals would only be smart enough to sneak in the property during a day then suggested Hikvision cams are an ideal choice. Otherwise I would look at higher end options with Hikvision and as it was already recommend try at least one Huisun Mini PTZ. So far it hasn't disappointed with reliability in the past 3 month, has excellent night time coverage for the buck and will work with the NVR that you mentioned.
