Hi All, I have a Hik Vision DVR and 4 CCTV cameras in my home. The DVR Model Number is DS-7204.

The DVR is on my home network and I can log in to view my 4 cameras on my iPads and mobile phones. But I want to be able to view my cams on my desktop PC too.

I can log in to my DVR using my Chrome browser. But what I see is a user interface with a blank viewing panel and a message saying " Please click here to download and install the plug-in. Close the browser when installing the plug-in." (I have attached a screenshot).

When I click on that link it downloads a plug-in called "Web Components.exe".
I install it - but it makes no difference to the browser view. (I tried this on FireFox browser also, with same result).

In the HIKVision FAQ section it suggests installing a viewing App called "iVMS 4200" instead.
I downloaded the latest version from their website and installed it.
On running the App it asks me to Log In and presents a Hik Vision Log In dialog box. I insert my usual username/password, but it says incorrect password. I tried many times to login this way but it just says incorrect password.

Now I am wondering if I need to REGISTER with Hikvision on the iVMS4200 app again, because it is a different service? I don't want to do this without being sure because I don't want to cause some sort of conflict with the username/password I already have for my existing iPad/Phone logins.

Can anyone explain the full procedure? Will the iVMS actually allow me to view this model of DVR and its cams after setting it up?

If your PC is windows OS, then use the Edge Browser in internet explorer mode.

Oh good.
If Edge in IE mode is problematic, then try to resurrect IE within Windows itself. I understand there is a thread that describes the process.

Hey if its asking you to login and you dont remember password uninstall and reinstall the ivms 4200 software and it should ask you to create a super user, after inputting your username and password twice. I suggesting clicking the auto login so when you open the software again it will open without inputting your login information. This user doesnt have any correlation to anything just to create it for the software. then two pops should come up you will click 'OK' and then 'CLOSE' .once you do that go to device management on the right hand side of the software and then click online devices next to the Add button. a window on the bottom should pop out and from there check the box next to NVR name. then a red ADD button should highlight then go ahead and click that from there input your NVR login the one you put in for the web interface. where it says name thats an alias/nickname for the device. once the information is in click add and it should move to the top of the screen and should show online if you input the correct information. Once you get passed that go ahead and click on the 4 window icon on the top left and that should take you back to the main menu from there click main view and drag the folder over to the empty squares and your cameras should populate.

Hi All, Thanks very much for all your suggestions! I don't usually use Edge, I gave it up when it replaced basic IE. I had already started drifting over to Firefox by then anyhow and that's been my default browser for years now. I didn't even know IE could still be run from the Edge app.
So I followed your instructions and figured out how to run it, and I pasted in my DVR login link. I then logged in and the same familiar interface opened, but this time no error message, I thought I had it cracked. But after waiting a few seconds - no picture. The Live View tab was selected. I clicked on each camera icon, but still just got a black screen.
Then I tried clicking on the Playback tab. Suddenly I had a picture! The recordings made earlier today were all accessible on all cams.
So now the question is - how come Playback works but Live View doesn't?
I'll bet you guys know the answer! Thanks again!

Just after I posted that I was digging around the DVR Configuration tab and when I clicked on the 'Vehicle Detection Config' link it opened a small widow and it was a live view! I could switch around all 4 cams and see the live view.
But it's not as good as having the full size Live View array displayed all on the same page.
Still - it says to me this is just some kind of a config adjustment needed.

Hi All, I had another new development after my last post last night. Again I was just digging around the HikVision viewer interface and on the Live View tab (bottom right) I noticed a small icon looking like two small squares stacked. I hovered over that and a 'Start All Live View' tag came up, so I clicked it, and voila, I got Live View from all 4 cams on the main Live View page. Success!

This is great - but just one fly remains in the ointment. I don't really want to use Internet Explorer as my browser (nor the Edge browser either). I'd rather have a working 'viewer', or the ability to use my existing Firefox browser to quickly login to and display the cams.

Trempa92, thanks for your patch, it looks like a good fix for users who want to use IE. Does anyone know of a viewer that works and is easily configured under Win 11?

Yeah, sometime back the browser viewing changed from automatic live feed of the cameras, to needing to hit the "play" button. Threw me for a bit until I poked around mashing buttons. Glad you figured it out.

Just reinstall ivms4200 if you dont remember pw to current one
The original issue was - I can login to my Hikvision viewer and can now see the cameras on it (only using tricky old IE). When I try to login to th ivms4200 using the SAME usrname/password it gives an error every time.
So am I supposed to create a different account (unique username/password) for the ivms viewer or what?

Seems you forgot the credentials to your ivms4200.

The credentials does not need to be same. Both ivms4200 and DVR ask for initialization on first start.

Like i said uninstall the software, install it again and insert new password.
