Its been very cold here and I have yet to install the doorbell in the new house.

Hi!

I am trying to connect a relay to a DB1 Pro to activate a mechanical doorbell that works at 12VAC since all doorbells in Argentina operate at that voltage.

I make the connections as shown in how to connect a mechanical doorbell, replacing it with a 24VAC relay (attached Connection 01.PNG)...
As soon as the circuit is energized, the relay is activated and the DB1 Pro does not because it only receives 4.6VAC... that is, it does not turn on the DB1 Pro as it does not have the necessary voltage of 16-24V.

On YouTube I saw the following video and they connect it in the same way as I connected previously:

I attached the circuit (Connection 02.PNG)

In the Ezviz app I set that I want to connect a mechanical doorbell.

The supply I use is 24VAC 50W, more than enough to power the DB1 Pro and the relay that consumes 85 mA only.

I took measurements and the following came up, the Power Kit that I have has a Resistance of 4 Ohm and a Capacitance of 88uF, could you tell me if those values are ok to see its correct operation? I am doubting that it is in good condition.

I measured the voltages on the doorbell terminals and it gave me 4.6V and 22V on the power kit cables... meaning that the power kit is energized as soon as voltage is applied to the circuit. Due to the low voltage, the DB1 Pro does not turn on. Just in case, I inserted the fuse in that circuit that I attached and it blew, from what I saw it is 3.15A, could you confirm that I can find a replacement for it?

Any ideas why it doesn´t work as intended?

Thanks!!!!

What happens if you don't use the power kit?

You might try one of these:

Sounds like the impedance of the relay coil/power box is too high and most of your voltage drop in the series circuit is occurring on the coil instead of the doorbell.

Look at our 101 Other Hardware to Consider, there are some Relays others have used...

Appreciate this is quite an old video doorbell, however I opted to buy one anyway, as I wanted a doorbell that would be a simple replacement for my existing pushbutton and mechanical chime. The chime I have is a Honeywell D792 underdome type chime in combination with a 12V 8VA transformer in my consumer unit. The doorbell appears to be working quite well, both in daytime and nighttime with IR lights. So far no dropping of connection that I've noticed, however it is not yet recording to an NVR. I have noticed that the transformer is getting quite toasty:

So I do expect this will need to be changed out at some point for a highe VA rated unit. One unfortunate thing is, its not possible to change the duration of the chime being rang when the doorbell button is being pressed, as its pretty short, but at the same time, its not too bad.
