EZVIZ DB1C doorbell reboot issue

This is essentially a note for db1c owners: as it ages and endures extreme weather conditions, your doorbell may encounter issues.

I've had my db1c running for 2 years, but since last month, it started rebooting itself about every 2 minutes.

I bought a new db1c as a replacement and used it for troubleshooting, which confirmed the issue lies with the doorbell itself, not the transformer or anything else.

Upon opening the doorbell, it's evident the internal battery is swollen (I don't have a picture yet). Living in Edmonton, Canada, makes winters crucially cold.

Here's the battery link on Amazon for reference:
Amazon.ca

In case the link is dead, here are the battery specs:
  • DC 3.7V 300mAh 602025 Rechargeable Lithium Polymer Battery
  • 602025: 60 denotes a thickness of 6mm, and 2025 signifies dimensions of 20mm x 25mm
Aliexpress sells the battery in a 5pc lot for the same price, but shipping may take 2 months due to restrictions on shipping lithium polymer batteries via air. Here's the link for reference:

I also tried using the doorbell without the battery, and everything worked—video monitor, RTSP streaming, etc.—except for the ring and chime function.

It appears this battery primarily drives the chime and speaker. Without it, pushing the ring button causes the doorbell to die, and the chime won't sound.

Thanks for reading, sorry I don't have pictures but it is farely straightforward.

Almost a year later and thank you for this thread! The doorbell was driving my crazy not connecting to my wifi or dying as soon as I tried to see the video stream.
I have yet to replace it, but the battery is definitly a cursed pillow and need replacement.

From a fellow Canadian with super cold winter.

@marvinto In the off chance you get a notification for this message, did you skip the white wire? I assume its some kind of thermistor/sense wire.

The DB1C may not be available for a low price anymore, but my best advice is once it's set up turn off auto update and/or reboot. It will screw it up every time!

edit to say - i got so aggravated I had a sign on my front door to knock.....because the doorbell wouldnt ring. And I just needed to set it up again and turn off anything that made it update.

and they are better doorbell cams out there than the db1c.

Any good recomendation that got a decent RTSP stream with or without onvif? Has to be powered by doorbell wiring as I cant get any new wire where it sits.

I've already gave up on Ezviz awful app/cloud thing and run my own Frigate server so I'm really not attached to this db1c.

I do think some members know how to turn on the rtsp and allow you to add it to BI. I havent tried so I'm of no use. I do think it can be done.. You may need to download a certain ezvis app with more functions than the standard version.

Someone on here wrll help, if only ro direct you to a link.

Shit i didnt even read your post before my ansewer. Several have liked the rrolink that has network vie poe, but I liked the Eufy doorbell i put in fo my sister....but have only experience with those two......unles you count the dahua gate control doorbell with poe/wiFi thats really hard to set up an may be overkill for a home.

Just googled Eufy and many say they have trouble with Frigate....so do some study.

Unfortunally no. I don't like paying cloud subsciption so that was my driving factor along with couldnt run an eithernet cable, so had to use esisting doorbell voltage.

Good luck and let us know how it works out....Thanks.
