    1/1.8" cameras at night

I can see right now that the license plate in that picture is blurred. You need to increase your shutter speed for starters. There is no magic shutter speed or IR light setting. At my place I have 4 LPR cameras. They have shutter speeds of 1/250, 1/500/, 1/1000 and 1/2000. I have had shutter...

Fed up homeowner confronts car thief in his driveway

It's very dangerous to fight with those bugs without weapon, lock the door can't stop those bugs, they will broken the windows...From this video, we learn the driveway is bit important to watch at, use a better camera. Hoefully his phone camera captured the car's license plate.

Need a Suggestion For Brand/Models For Security Cameras

WOW! Thanks for that reply. So from what I read here, most of them not good for night or need some light, I prefer to take cameras that will be good at night (even maybe there some street lights), what do you think? Another thing, I don't see here nothing exact for identify object, most of them...

Need a Suggestion For Brand/Models For Security Cameras

4MP is 1/1.8" sensor. 8MP is 1/1.2" sensor There is no ideal sensor made for 5MP or 6MP See my link that shows the proper camera for the distance you want to IDENTIFY. Focal length is more important than MP. My 2MP optically zoomed at 100 feet will beat an 8MP digitally zoomed all day long...

    1/1.8" cameras at night

Maybe that is a problem, would I need to turn off auto 3D IR? Frustrating many people claim these 1/1.8 works for them with default settings and I'm on the struggle bus! The pictures above are completely washed out beyond use. I turn up the shutter speed and I get ghosting trail effect that is...

    1/1.8" cameras at night

With my S3 license plate cameras I run the IR around the 20% level. It is a fine balance to keep from washing out the new plates that have excellent reflectivity, and having enough IR for the dirty plates so that I can get a good reading on them.

I'm searching for access control system which is using remotes or hard to duplicate rfid

It really comes down to how much financial outlay you’re committed to. If the budget is low as it is for the vast majority of consumers the options are limited. If the budget is endless as seen in Enterprise / Government then it really comes down to how serious they are and how it will...

iDS-2CD7A26G0/P-IZHS get captured plate numbers via ISAPI or just API?

Hi Everyone and @trempa92 have you ever encountered an issue like this? I'm trying to register the allowlist for the new license plate using ISAPI on the DS-TCG405-E LPR Camera series. It successfully went through, but the output is showing strange characters. Warm regards, Rian

    1/1.8" cameras at night

My gut feeling says that IR is always going to produce better results. First, not every car is going to have working license plate lights. Even if the street is relatively bright, I think the lack of a license plate light will greatly hamper the ability to capture good plates with ambient...

    Blue Iris and CodeProject.AI ALPR

The ALPR module uses the license-plate model first to find the license plates in the images sent. If the module does not find any license plates it returns nothing found. If it finds a license plate then it crops the plate and runs OCR on the cropped plate and send the OCR results.

    Blue Iris and CodeProject.AI ALPR

I would like BI to only confirm an alert when CodeProject.AI actually gets a license plate read, not just finds a DayPlate or NightPlate. My thinking is that the To Confirm box is looking at labels returned by AI models, so I should input something like "Plate*" since the alpr module returns...

budget IP POE license plate camera?

Hi, Currently I'm using this camera to capture the license plate on my driveway and it work fine. IPC-B5442E-Z4E . But the playback is not so good. and when download it save them as .dav. is there a more better one along that price range where I can download it .mp4 or something? thank you

    IPC-Color4K-T180 quality

IPC-Color4K-T180 has a very narrow and 180 degree view that is good for the overview of the street or side path of home with no IR builtin in the camera. It's definitely not for license plate capture of a moving car.

    IPC-Color4K-T180 versus TIOC version

Just be aware that the IPC-Color4K-T180 has no IR illumination for night time and depends on enough ambient light or its own visible white LED to "see."

    IPC-Color4K-T180 quality

Hi all I'm looking to replace my driveway cam with the IPC-Color4K-T180 from Andy's Empire Tech Does this capture the license plate of moving cars clearly? That is my intention for this particular location of the property. Is this better suited to capture the side path of a home instead...

Does everyone remove the timestamp from their LPR camera? I recently noticed that the car with plate "PM" was passing by quite a lot and finally figured out what was up: I did notice that the license plate model in YOLO v8 doesn't seem to capture the timestamps. For now I'll just disable...

    Feedback on Complex Camera Layout

Thanks @Flintstone61! Your photos look great on the license plate and I appreciate your advice on the IPC-B54IR-Z4E-S3. It's a very tight choke point for vehicles and they will be driving directly at the cameras or away, so I'll have good shots. I'll make that change on my list. Do you have...

    Feedback on Complex Camera Layout

Welcome @aaronkelley nice place, you should have your work cut on for this project. My top recommendation at this point is to get ONE good 4MP 1/1.8" varifocal camera and start to play around with it. With a property of that size, I would also be looking at a PTZ .. just because .. lol...

    Feedback on Complex Camera Layout

First of all, my apologies for the long thread. I have been reading / thinking about doing a system for over a year and found this forum to be very helpful. I pulled the trigger on my Blue Iris machine (will be here in a couple days), so it's time to figure out the first cameras. I am good to...

    Blue Iris and CodeProject.AI ALPR

I'm going to cross-post this from my other thread. I've been unable to use the license plate CP.AI with the GPU since it just stops for no reason. Works GREAT with the CPU only. So I reinstalled the CUDA 11.8 drivers (I guess I hadn't done that and was running 12.X). GPU inference now...

CodeProject LPR not detecting car because pre-trigger frames don't seem to exist.

CodeProject LPR not detecting car because pre-trigger frames don't seem to exist.

I did some more investigation and got it dialed in much better. Removing object detection so I wasn't doing the license-plates model AS well as ALPR seemed to help. I also noticed that my camera was set to H.265. Setting it to H.264 resulted in stable frame grabs with nothing missing. I...

CodeProject LPR not detecting car because pre-trigger frames don't seem to exist.

Hello, thanks for the response. As for the slow CP.AI response time, I do have an issue in my particular configuration right now; YOLO object detection leverages the GPU just fine but license plate detection crashes when the GPU is used. So for the moment LPR is CPU only. The plates do get...
