...discussed in post 655. And some users have found it necessary to add argument --ssl-no-revoke. It’s been awhile now, but when I last used TailScale, I recall that I had to enter the BI PC’s TailScale address and BI web server port in the WAN field in the Blue Iris Settings > Web server tab.

Send Pushover notifications with pictures and hyperlinks

Few questions trying to get a understanding here why I'm having issues via Pushover: I'm using Tailscale to connect while I'm not at home and am using the following to test with https://api.pushover.net/1/messages.json -s --form-string "token=redacted" --form-string "user=redacted" --form-string...

RDP to Blue Iris over LAN – can it be done securely?

Oh are you only interested in locally? most of these types of queries relate to access from the internet. I mean you can lock your machine down....but if someones already in your network (assuming you're not in a shared network - flatmates school) then you have bigger problems.

RDP to Blue Iris over LAN – can it be done securely?

Thanks, but there is no need for VPN or tailscale if I am connecting from within my LAN.

RDP to Blue Iris over LAN – can it be done securely?

If you don't already have vpn (and even then I'd shy away from that as it means exposing ports) in favour of tailscale. Connect to tailscale, then connect to rdp.

If not, I would remove the SD card (keeping it as a backup for the Pi) and insert a freshly installed SD card like Raspberry Pi OS Lite On that new card, I would add either Tailscale, Netbird, Netmaker, or Zerotier to provide remote...

Would be identical for an NVR no? Only difference is if the NVRhad its own switch to put the cameras on an unreachable network

    EmpireTech Security Settings

This is the diagram that @Rob2020 is talking about. But this assumes you are using BlueIris. You can access the BlueIris PC from outside your network if you set up a VPN type service or use something like Tailscale or Zerotier. The individual cams are unreachable except through the BI PC.

You could also try to use tailscale or zerotier instead.

Century Link modem no VPN support, Replacement? or inbound VPN pass through possible?

...try setting the ASUS RT AX5400 to "bridge" mode if using a CenturyLink-approved modem for VLAN tagging, then use the ASUS for routing and VPN functionality. I woud keep i tsimple and just add either tailscale or netbird or netmaker to a device that is on the same netwrok as the blueiris...

how easy is it to set up TailScale ?

I've run out of ideas on why it doesn't. I don't have the same setup as you, I have a computer using PfSense as a router and have Tailscale installed at the router, so I just enter in the local IP address of BI to access it via UI3.

Blue Iris setup using Tailscale or similar

...If she is on your wifi, with UI3 she can access the cameras and when she is away from your house, she will not be able to. If you give her Tailscale, then she can see your house when not at your house, unless you limit the hours that username can be accessing. Or as someone said, just get a...

that is correct. Especially the part 'or nothing', like openvpn or some other VPN.

Blue Iris setup using Tailscale or similar

Tailscale is a VPN that runs on your home LAN and allows a secure connection (tunnel) to your home LAN from outside your LAN. Tailscale running will NOT stop a local connection. So while I have Taliscale running on my BI PC, it has no impact on any local connections. So my office PC (in my home...

Blue Iris setup using Tailscale or similar

AHH OKAY.. I was saying I didn't want to open/forward ports so I switched to Tailscale, if i didn't use tailscale or nothing, i would have to open/forward port for BI to work from the outside, correct? And not using tailscale - home LAN/Network, she basically just connects the way you said but...

Blue Iris setup using Tailscale or similar

I was hoping to not open/forward Ports , hence using tailscale for more security. But i guess that will prohibit me giving temporary access to someone unless they use tailscale.

Blue Iris setup using Tailscale or similar

I would forget tailscale . and just open port 81 and create a temp username and passwrd in BI and give it to the babysittertehn just change the password each time baby090524 (babydate)

Blue Iris setup using Tailscale or similar

that’s the thing. I don’t want to have babysitter or guest download Tailscale. Set it up etc. if Tailscale is constantly running on my BI PC, is it still possible for remote/temp access for babysittter? I’m assuming not?
  20. NoProblems

Blue Iris setup using Tailscale or similar

Once you grant access via Tailscale, the person, like your babysitter, will have the same access to your local network as if they were on your LAN, even from outside your home. Tailscale simply provides full network access without the need to change anything in Blue Iris. All you need to do is...

Blue Iris setup using Tailscale or similar

I access my BI setup remotely two different ways, using the iPhone BI app and using UI3 from a laptop in my RV. I was originally using Tailscale for both, but had issues not consistently connecting the iPhone app, so I ended up using ZeroTier for that. I still use Tailscale for the laptop access...

    iOS push notifications stopped working

I have been using tailscale for a long time. But it isn't necessary at home as the log in is direct. I have a samsung tablet that doesn't have cell capabilities, wifi only. Not using a VM. Totally baffled on this one. Been at it for many hours in many different ways, including BI support. Ken...

Backing up another step. Check your machines on the TS site. https://login.tailscale.com/admin/machines There should be at least two machines listed. One for the phone and the other for the BI computer. With TS activated on both of your devices, the TS website on the right side under "Last...

@concord I have tried having both my phone and my BI machine connected to Tailscale and just opening brave browser and entering UI3 address with the port also. This is with Wi-Fi off on the phone. Just goes to search results for the IP. Does not connect to UI3. I can do it thru RDP, and then...

how easy is it to set up TailScale ?

I'm going to assume that you installed Tailscale on your Blue Iris system. Try going into your phone, enable Tailscale on phone, bring up a browser on your phone, type in your Blue Iris Tailscale IP address. You may need to add the port onto the end of it (i.e. 100.xxx.xxx.xxx:81). If that...
