    Blue Iris App

...a wireguard client. Even if their client is open source it would require a great deal of work. What about those who use openvpn, zerotier, tailscale etc? should those be included as well. The app would be huge and the amount of work insane. I just leave zerotier on 24/7. Not need to turn...

What is the best way to connect Dahua IP camera?

I have an issue that involves the installation of cameras in public transport, which need to be connected to Wi-Fi transmitted from a 4G USB router. I am hoping to avoid using any additional equipment and achieve the same setup I had with Imou. With Imou, I simply installed the cameras...

What is the best way to connect Dahua IP camera?

...Some members on the forum use P2P but most here recommend the use of a VPN. if you have an always-on computer, you can install ZeroTier or TailScale onto it to get access. Your router may have WireGuard or OpenVPN options to set up a VPN. Alternatively, you can setup a VPN on a Raspberry Pi.

That might be it, i'm hosting the Open VPN server on my ASUS router.

    Improve UI3 Loading Speed?

Aside from changing setting in the UI3, I find that the VPN makes a difference in speed. One remote UI3 that I connect to takes much longer and has frequent timeouts when using Zerotier than it does with Tailscale which is near instant.

Verizon LTE Home internet and IP cams

This is a generic description of my Tailscale setup, and might be a straightforward solution for the OP. I have a Netgate 2100 firewall appliance (currently $349 - there is a $189 smaller appliance) that uses pfSense. The appliance has a Tailscale "package" meaning Tailscale gets installed on...

Verizon LTE Home internet and IP cams

...Unless their business dept. can offer a public (and likely static) IP address (and if so, probably VERY expensive), I think Zerotier or Tailscale is your best best. I use neither so I can't advise, there are several on IPCT that have had very good results, hopefully one will chime in shortly...

Do any of you actually use Dahua P2P for external access to your cams?

Lol, the dude already deleted his account it seems... Maybe he should look into Starlink as main connexion and LTE as back-up. It's my own company & private network, haven't done that except for one customer, but in most cases overcomplicating things like that is a no go. For most 'simple'...

Do any of you actually use Dahua P2P for external access to your cams?

...should be setting up a vlan that is completely isolated from the primary network (except maybe an inbound firewall rule to access same) This forum is full of ways to gain easy access to NVR's remotely including zerotier, tailscale and the like. Lesser of 2 evils does not make it right or secure.

...time BI service loads before Zerotier does its thing thus not allowing us to connect remotely. No problem on a couple other systems or with Tailscale. Last night I found an article concerning this issue which I have not had a chance to try on their pc but it said to run SERVICES.MSC from...

    Another OpenVPN/WireGuard alternative: Twingate

True, however you can implement your own ZeroTier controller/server; also HeadScale is being developed, which is an open source implementation of TailScale. https://github.com/zerotier/ZeroTierOne https://github.com/juanfont/headscale

Access to BI from external Network / Blocked OpenVPN

If the company allows the Tailscale app on your phone, you can run the client there and on the BI machine and use Tailscale to connect. I just started using Tailscale, although not for BI access as I have BI's web server exposed to the internet via port forwarding and an NGINX proxy on my...

    VPN Primer for Noobs

...failed. It was odd because from the Blue Iris PC to my phone or the Blue Iris PC to a 2nd PC, the pings would fail about 25% of the time. But when I tried the 2nd PC to my phone, it never failed to ping. My experience with tailscale, however, was flawless. Connected right away with no issue.

    Another OpenVPN/WireGuard alternative: Twingate

I've been using ZeroTier, WireGuard before that and it seems that the number of options have grown, including TailScale and now Twingate. I think Twingate is overkill for just HA and/or BI, however if you have a remote office and need access to one or all remote office systems, this may be an...

Zero Tier remote access to Blue Iris

One video with quite a bit of usefull info about TAILSCALE can be seen at One thing that I learned from his video was that from your login console, you can disable the login expiration which defaults to expire within a few months after instalation. Tailscale also allows easy file transfers...

Zero Tier remote access to Blue Iris

...over a year ago. Totally aware of all the trouble shooting of ip addresses, web server, etc. It simply would not work at that time. With tailscale working so easily I see no reason to go back to a different method. My router supports open vpn but I simply couldn't get things to work...

Zero Tier remote access to Blue Iris

...under the sun and would only get a connection sometimes, and then maybe, maybe not the videos would load. worked on the vpn for a month, zerotier for 3 weeks, tailscale was immediate. Zero Tier remote access to Blue Iris

I tried the vpn and zerotier methods of which neither would connect to Blue iris away from home, you really don't need a video per say with tailscale. Zero Tier remote access to Blue Iris

Tailscale is another option. I use pfsense firewall which has a tailscale option. I use it to easily setup site 2 site vpn. Setting it up on the firewall allows me full access to all devices on that network. Zerotier does not allow this from what I gather. I have it setup at my parents. It...

New internet service coming - VPN options

I take the point about needing a good understanding. Always willing to take on new learning challenges. However, once in a while I have to pause and ask myself what my goal is. For the fun of it I might try Tailscale. Zerotier was straightforward to set up.
