Turret camera needed for short range, mailbox mounted, LPR
Concerning the placement on the mailbox, I am thinking the most unobtrusive place for these 6" turrets would be on the post itself, just below the box. That way, their sillouette would not be as seen unless looking at the mailbox perpendicular to the road. Maybe provide some sort of skirt or... -

If the trees on the right are interfering with a good look far afield then I would suggest swapping the two cameras so that the LPR camera can see beyond those trees. That might improve the angle, and if the zoom is sufficient then better captures. -

Here is California it's about a $1100 fine to purposely obscure a plate from LPR, but there's a market for various products which removes the reflective coating. Just as window tinters are willing to sell and install opaque films but tell their customers it's on them if they are caught. -

Printing out fake plates is a waste of time. Just join the non-tax-paying crowds who don't bother to renew their two-and three-year-old registrations and who drive around with no insurance. Long gone are the days that anyone cares. The government will just print more money (or borrow it from China)! -

Yes, the one unit allows splitting the PoE power for two cameras. After having installed it last year in September it has been flawless. The unit itself is outside in the elements, although the ports are facing the bottom to prevent rain from quickly corroding the pins. -
