    Christmas Sales 2021

Do you have cameras like the IPC-Color4K-X in a turret or a PTZ?

Curious which app you use and why

That said, I use Ring Pros at home (I got two free) and I pay for the service. It's generally pretty good for $30/yr.

Curious which app you use and why

We use it at work. It is jenky.

Newbie, need advise on how to connect IP camera home system

It was likely a connection in the patch panel. I swapped some of the cables and it made no difference. I then ran a cable directly from the PC to the switch and that fixed it immediately.

Newbie, need advise on how to connect IP camera home system

I have 6 cameras. My PC dropped to 100 MB/s due to something happening with a cable. BI could not keep up with even 6 cameras, all 4 MP or better.

Main/Substream and poor alert image quality

After a few back-and-forth replies to the BI folks, they claim this issue will be fixed.

    Snow - blow me...

I was using the built-in IR illuminator, so that was likely most of the problem.

    Snow - blow me...

I had terrible problems with rain on an exposed bullet camera. Adding DeepStack completely solved the spurious motion alerts for me.

IP camera that sends image to server

Running Blue Iris is pretty easy and you can download video from its web interface. It can also upload alert images via FTP or send them via email. I have cameras from Amcrest and Dahua. They can both upload to a NAS, FTP or local SD card. I have one Hikvision camera and it can upload to a NAS...

    Install on eaves from attic

I considered mounting a camera to the deck fencing, but I was worried about wind shaking the fence and vibrations from people walking. The FOV would be pretty limited, however, since we park a vehicle 15 away.

DeepStack Case Study: Performance from CPU to GPU version

Are these on a sub-stream? I think the 50ms times from the cheapest 30 series RTX are hard to beat for sub-streams for the money. I have it sample 3 images, once every 750ms. I was worried if the system got motion alerts on several cameras at once. A 250ms time could get backed up with 4-5...

    Install on eaves from attic

Exactly. My home position for the front camera looks down my sidewalk to the driveway. The DeepStack integration lets me know when a person is walking up before my doorbell cameras notice due to the geometry of the house. The 25x zoom really does gives me a good view of things happening down...

    Install on eaves from attic

It's more like 22-25 feet up, 35 was the size ladder they (said) was used.

Main/Substream and poor alert image quality

Support suggested the tips here: Action Maps (Alerts) - Blue Iris However, I was already doing that. I'll keep dialoging with them to see what they can do.

Main/Substream and poor alert image quality

I did yesterday. Very strange. No word yet.

Main/Substream and poor alert image quality

Interesting. The files in the alerts folder appear to be full-size, but they are excessively pixelated. But the dimensions are still much larger than what's being emailed.

Main/Substream and poor alert image quality

Correct. Low-res. Here is the screenshot.

Main/Substream and poor alert image quality

I've been there. Yes, I have mine set to scale 100% and I still get small images. I'm attaching 3 images, however.
  19. B

Main/Substream and poor alert image quality

Yes, I have done that for all cameras when I set up the sub stream. It sends low-res images via email regardless.

    Power Consumption Question

I think it would be more accurate to get a battery that you can use with a solar charger that's rated for heat/cold and try it out. There are losses with solar chargers, batteries drain when idle, heat/cold affect battery capacity and lifetime, etc. There are lots of variables with power usage...

    Install on eaves from attic

From the Amazon listing, this camera weighs 1lb but is a PTZ. Not really heavy. I've had professionals out to install the larger, heavier PTZ. That did not go very well.

    Install on eaves from attic

It would have to be very large to go over the deck and still be up 25'.

    Install on eaves from attic

I hate drilling into stucco since every hole could be a future problem. I'll likely have to do this on the other side of my house, but that should be easier to do. Where this is going, the deck has a fence around it for privacy so it would have to be pretty high to see over the fence. I don't...

    Install on eaves from attic

That is what I was thinking. Seems like it could work. I will need a fairly large hole to get the cables from the camera thought, so maybe my pipe flange idea would be a easier since it's just one thing to plan for. Two 3/4" black iron flanges and a 3/4" pipe nipple. Then I'd just have to get...

    Install on eaves from attic

I had a contractor put one in the front and he needed a 35' ladder. This in the back is on a deck. The eaves are at least 2' deep so there's plenty of space in the attic. There's a hot tub on the deck that complicates ladder placement.

    No Alerts When DeepStack fails

Such a script could help alert me, but if I can't get to it and fix it, then I'd be running blind. I guess there is no way to deal with that. Maybe I'll submit a support ticket or whatever they call that. I'm on paid support.

    Install on eaves from attic

They are vinyl soffit material. It's easy to drill through, but I won't have outside access without an enormous ladder. I was thinking of hoisting the camera up and somehow attaching it. Maybe with a bracket plate and a pipe flange into a piece of wood for stability.

    Install on eaves from attic

I'm thinking about installing a Loryta SD1A404XB-GNR for general awareness in my house. I want to install it under the eaves on a soffit. I'd like to install it without using a ladder. Has anyone tried doing this and could offer some tips? I have attic access, of course. I've installed pendant...

Main/Substream and poor alert image quality

I've selected Hi-Res JPEG for all cameras. None are sending the full image. It worked before I added sub streams to make DeepStack work quicker. I get postage-stamp sized images via email.

    No Alerts When DeepStack fails

I had an instance where my DeepStack installation failed. I run it on a separate box since the GPU won't fit into the PC I'm using for BI. It works fine over the network. My Linux installation appears to have upgraded something automatically and DS stopped working as a result. Thus BI would...
