IPCT 8 MP(4K) Starlight IR Fixed Bullet, Camera Powered by Night Eye

I bought one of these too, expecting on Tuesday. Normally the FoV on this is way too wide for my liking but I have a great overview place for this and it will let me see if I like Hiks vs the Dahua before I get a couple more cameras.

IPCT 8 MP(4K) Starlight IR Fixed Bullet, Camera Powered by Night Eye

How are the specs wrong? Field of View is determined by focal length and sensor size. The two cameras you are comparing do not have similar sensors. There are some great interactive calculators out there to use for this...

IPCT 8 MP(4K) Starlight IR Fixed Bullet, Camera Powered by Night Eye

This in a variable focal would be very slick, would probably buy right now... Any plans for any PTZ?

    Mini outdoor PTZ : DS-2DE4A220IW-DE

How would you say the DS-2DE4A425IW-DE should compare to some of the Dahua PTZ models? And what source to purchase is recommended for the Hik? I've got a setup of mostly Dahua 5231s that I wish to complement with a single 25xish PTZ, but I'm torn on a good bang/buck purchase

    New, from Oregon

This is a fairly common requirement in some sectors. I often see a 6 month requirement, expanded to 12 months for server room cameras.

    Nooby Nooberton

I love it, and it basically is that easy! Though, once you start you'll want to get another IP camera... And another... And then realize that the first ones you got weren't really good enough so you'll go for much better ones to "replace" them - then you'll put the original ones somewhere else...

Welcome! That is quite funny to me that you've had an account for 3+ years and this is your first post. I look forward to seeing you active on the forum.

Tested: AMD RYZEN vs INTEL SKYLAKE CPU's for BlueIris

I like that you ran through this - a very good start! I think the actual tests, if the goal is a real world Blue Iris load, is done with many incorrect assumptions as to settings that should be used. I would suggest connecting a full load to both systems, optimizing per recommendations on the...

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

Even if not related to an IP camera, misinformation is misinformation. The link he posted has good information in it, how he interpreted it as what he initially said is beyond me.

That post just made me realize why @fenderman is as blunt as he is.

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

This is an example of my fear. With that setting you've told it to try for 1/120, which could be too bright during the day and too dark at night. Using the Manual -> Custom Range, I'll set it from 0 (basically never cap the shutter speed) to 8 (never go below 1/125) or in some areas with worse...

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

As far as shutter speed goes, I've been playing around with Manual -> Custom Range and giving it the range that I feel is acceptable based on camera location, available light, etc. I don't have the trust in "Shutter Priority" to know when it will still lower that speed.

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

I think you meant to say shutter speed.

    CPU Help - New Here

That usage definitely seems high, I believe my system is pushing a lot more through it and has a much older i3 running it. First suggestion would be to ditch Teamviewer, using native RDP should lower the processor utilization. Also for the hardware acceleration, have you tried Yes+VideoPostProc...

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

It may not have actually shipped out based on that status, could be caught in the holiday season fun-times. My shipments from Andy weren't always speedy, but for the price and customer service it is still worth it.

Best methods for post "event" analysis

Just to compare, @THEGreenBoxInc , I'm running a 4th generation Intel Core i3 processor (i3-4170). My CPU sits around 40-50% when I have the application window open, or around 30-35% when I use the web/mobile interface for viewing. (Just checked, 38% right now with interface open). Per the BI...

Should I get the Reolink RLC-423 or maybe Hikvsion DS-2CD2142FWD-is ?

Hard to know if you're missing anything without knowing layout of your house - but I'm a fan of what you've captured. May not get the best ID shot on the front door - but is that even your goal? To have a general idea of what is going on in your house, this definitely helps.

Should I get the Reolink RLC-423 or maybe Hikvsion DS-2CD2142FWD-is ?

Yes, likely about a week. The DHL shipping is pretty sweet.

Should I get the Reolink RLC-423 or maybe Hikvsion DS-2CD2142FWD-is ?

There is a thread over 160 pages long basically devoted to the 5231R-Z. There are plenty of comparisons in the thread between other models, people upgrading to it, etc. It is a very nice camera that you won't beat in that price range. I would suggest you have some patience though - your best...

Should I get the Reolink RLC-423 or maybe Hikvsion DS-2CD2142FWD-is ?

I recently got started in this myself and implemented the 5231R-Z cameras. The "P" is just PAL vs NTSC which won't matter since this is digital. See my thread (Hello! "Long time listener, first time caller.") if you want some pictures and general layout/fov that I covered with a handful of...

Hello! "Long time listener, first time caller."

Thank you. Not sure why the Auto Focus is failing me - maybe the bug caught in the spider web swinging back and forth near the top of the image. I'll have to get rid of that tonight >.< I think I cleared it up a bit though here.

Hello! "Long time listener, first time caller."

@actran - Right now I have it recording 24/7 with alerts based on motion. C3 is set to object detect if goes from zone C to zone B. Zone A is everything, zone C is "outside the fence" - which is mainly the driveway, zone B is the paved area. This has worked fairly well to alert me when the...

Hello! "Long time listener, first time caller."

Thanks guys! @bp2008 to confirm you're talking about the one with the black gate in it? I can play around with that, but I didn't notice any focus issues. I'm mostly interested in focus at the gate and closer. I haven't really touched any settings other than a little bit of noise reduction...

Hello! "Long time listener, first time caller."

I've been stalking these forums for a bit now. For some reason I was crazy enough to read all 158+ (at the time) pages of the Starlight thread. I've had some cameras in the past consisting of Foscam, then Amcrest, and most recently some Hikvision Cube cameras (for inside) but had issues with...
